right now i have a Kodak Easyshare Z812IS. i like it, 12x zoom. takes good pictures out to 50 with regular zoom, and w/ advanced zoom it can go pretty far.

i am trying to get a cannon dslr. rebel xt.

i am pretty into photogarphy.would this be a good camera to start w/?

I don't know what the i means on the XT and XS Canons. From an initial glance, the megapixels are higher on the XTi and XSi.

Look into the reviews of the XSi. It was coming out when I got my XTi and I didn't want to wait for it.

Like I said before, it's the lenses that matter the most.

BH photo in NY seems to be the #1 internet retailer for cameras. Give them a shout and they will help you with a selection, or check out some photography forums.

in the camera world quality does indeed equal moola. My brother has a cannon and has taken some out standing waterfowl and wildlife pics.

Jeffs cams are too sick to even talk about. Hes got em in the spread on the lay outs its insane.
