Is it a bunch of nonscents?

I have been deer hunting for some time. I use the word hunting because I do not do a lot of killing. I have always believed in cover scents, attractant scents, washing your clothes in scent free detergent, wearing rubber boots...the list goes on. What is everyones take on this? Is this stuff only needed where the deer are few and far between with a high hunting pressure? I have used it and will continue to use it. Where I hunt if you see a half dozen deer for the season your having a banner year. NH deer herds suck but they have some good size and trophys all the time. I almost think where there are more deer it may allow for a greater increase of error?

I wear the same clothes each hunt, when not being used they are kept outside in a basket that is mixed in with Pine Needles. When washing I use water and baking soda to clean. As a cover scent I use FOX urine on my boots. During the rut, I try to harvest a doe early on that is in heat at which time I remove the bladder if she has not voided at the time. I save it and prior to using it during the hunt I warm it to body temperature or warmer to disperse the scent. This has worked for me for years. I have killed some grown bucks by doing this in the past. Most within steps of me.

I don't think being scent concious is going to hurt anything, but trying to hunt with the wind in your face is more important. The scent "eliminators", both clothes and sprays remind me of a joke I heard as a boy about a cleaning lady with bad "gas" in an elevator, the punch line was "smells like somebody chit a Xmas tree".

Two out of my last four deer have ben coming directly into scent like they were locked on. One was a scent stick that you light on fire. I hung it from a string under my tree stabd, the other was coming into Tinks 69 on a scent bomb hanging from a tree branch. Both were bucks...

I don't care if climb into a plastic bag a zip it up you are not going to trick a deers nose. Keep your cloths clean, use a sports wash or something with NO FRAGRANCE and NO UV BRIGHTENERS and you will be OK, oh yeah don't stand around anyone cooking bacon and eggs or pumping gas before hunting. Be careful with cover scents, if you use something the deer are not familiar with you will scare the crap out of them. And always approach your stand and hunt with the wind in your favor.
