Well here is the report: Spent the last eight days up in British Columbia in pursuit of my yearly supply of Moose meat! what a great hunt, from day one it was a go with four Bulls sighted first thing in the morning but no shots.
Day two was much better with a dandy popping up right in front of me but a sever case of bull fever cost me a score to my buddy who managed to make the kill as I was standing there shaking and heart a pumpin turned out to be the biggest Bull of the trip but I could not calm down to take the shot so that is the way it goes, on the evening hunt another member of our Party scored a nice Bull also but I missed the action since I had decided to relax that afternoon!
Day three we had two shots available but passed them up looking for larger antlers, pretty relaxed by now always seems to be a day or two before I calm down. Day four 1st thing in the morning I hear a boom and know that the one other member in our party has made his kill and have a moment of sadness as I am thinking that I hope I haven't blown my chances and reliize that I am sucking up the rear now! That only lasted a few minutes after I see the nice animal my buddy has killed and feel his excitement at a close range right between the eyeballs shot!!
Day five was uneventful except for all the bucks we were seeing they were everywhere today I had a buck tag but was sort of holding out for one bigger than the ones we were seeing total for the day was 6 bucks in shooting range. Day six was my turn we were watching a huge bull courting a couple cows in a meadow about 2 miles away when I had a 4X5 come strolling up to me about 150 yards out one heart shot later I was glad to be done even though it was the smallest animal of our hunt I felt good about the oppurtinity that was presented to me and my buddys had been giving me a pretty hard time so it was right!!!
Hunting in B.C. is just unbelieveable as we saw Moose ,bears, deer, coyotes, foxes.linxs daily besides all the grouse we shoot while coming and going from our hunts!!! I did not shoot a buck even thou I could have daily as I was looking for a nice one which I did see a couple times but a good shot was not to be had so passed on a kill .rebooked for 2008 same week as it is perfect for the rut and makes it a great hunt, did I mention the Taco's were GREAT!!!PEACE
Pictures will be coming soon having a CD burned from the outfitters sent to me my Pictures suck!!! On a side note I saw In the Newfoundland hunt post you were asking about prices, they very depending on where you go. our hunt was 3850.00 for a 8 day hunt with taxes, license fees and having my meat cut and wrapped it was a little over 5 grand we came home with over 2,000 pounds of meat packaged so it is worth it as far as we are concerned most of the Canadain Moose hunts are 5 to 6 thousand in the area we hunt but the outfitter likes us so has not raised the price for are group in five hunts which keeps us coming back, plus for close to home honting it is only a 8 hour drive!!!PEACE
I just love bullwinkle burgers, and tacos and medalions and anything else made from bullwinkle meat... Cant wait for you to get here and add some sword meat and sail memories to the collection...
