Buck before Doe

Can someone clarify this for me. Do you have to shoot 2 doe's before a buck, or can you shoot a buck and then 2 doe's?

What if you shoot a spike buck? does that count as your buck?

Hope this helps

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it does not matter what you shoot first; as long as after you shoot your first buck, you shoot two does before taking the second buck. You also have to have the bonus buck stamp to take the second antlered deer.

MD DNR defines an antlered deer: "An antlered white-tailed deer is a deer with two or more points to one antler, or a deer with one antler three or more inches long, measuring from the top of the skull as the deer is in life."

Paul,

Thanks. I thought thats how it was until my buddy told me you had 2 have 2 doe before a buck. Had my mind racing for 2 days now and got me worried for a bit.

So i guess the button buck would count as my number 1of 2 before i get another buck?

Sounds like it to me. Where do you normally hunt?

I thought you had to take two squirels and rabbit to qualify for a buck but only if the buck had three legs you could harvest a second buck but you must have taken a doe with at least two fawns still sucklin. Man these game laws get confusing for me sometimes. At least thats the way it is in West Virginia anyway.

So far I've been hunting Liberty Reservoir. It is 20 min from me as well, and even better; on my way home from work. I havent made it over to Loch Raven yet. How has it been? Judging by your post not to shabby.

I also hunt Avondale WMA...That is literally across the street from my house, but I am still waiting on DNR to get me my permit to hunt there.

A button buck counts as a doe - as long at the "buttons" are less than 3 inches long.

Heres my last question about this:

I know if i get 2 does I can get a buck. Lets say i have 4 does, can i go buck, buck since i have the right amount of doe or does that not matter once i get a buck i have to have 2 doe after that? Kind of confusing.
