Seeing I am new to this and still working things out I currently have my first pin good to 23 yards at 68# pull. I have not set the second yet as I am still trying to dial in the first. Not sure what to do with the third pin really as in reality it will take me allot of confidence to shoot at anything over 25 yards.

I think it depends more on how a particular bow shoots. For example, my bow shoots flat out to 25 yards, so my first pin is used from 0-25 yards. I have two more pins, one is dead on at 35, the next is dead on at 45 yards (the bow is dead on, but my accuracy at that distance might not be so good ).

If my target is 30 yards away, I will center the target in between the top pin and the middle pin.

I think it goes without saying that after a certain distance, for me 25 yards, it is very important to know exactly how far your target is. I missed a turkey last year because I rushed the shot, the damn bird only gave me 5 seconds to shoot, but my arrow shot low. Turns out he was 35 yards and I shot thinking he was 30, 5 yards can make a big difference.

Just practice a bunch and know your equipment.

Oh, be careful with any advice you get from Sikorski. That guy can hit a field mouse at 60 yards, so if you try to shoot like him you may be disappointed.

    20,30,40,50 and 60 yds.

In most cases I won't shoot over 30 to 40 yds. But I practice at known yardages up to 60. If you practice out to 60, 70 and even 80 you will be much better shot at 20 and 30. FYI, I shoot a Mathews 70# and it drops 1" per yard after 20 yards. So if you judge a deer at 20 and he is really 30, you will be
10" low and probably miss him.
