    Question Black Rifle Guys

I have an older AR with the carry handle and would like to mount a scope on it and still be able to use the open sights. I have tried a scope mount that is basically a "U" shaped channel that lays into the top of the carry handle and secures with one large knurled thumbscrew from the underside of the handle. Standard mounts slip onto the rail top.

Problem is that after a few months there is a slight wobble in the mount / scope. It’s kind of a natural fit to grab the gun by the handle / scope and carry it that way but that seems to be causing the trouble.

Do y’all have any suggestions for a secure way to mount a scope on a carry handle AR?

    Thanks

blue lock tight as long as your mount is made of aluminum. I kinda like the smith industry mounts...http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=2...LE_SCOPE_MOUNT
it sounds like you might have a ncstar mount (u-style).. not so much a fan of it.

midway & opticsplanet.com are also good sources if your looking for a new mount.

your other option would be to sell your A-1/A-2 upper switch to a flat top... the A2's bring way more used than a new flat top will cost ya but then you lose the handle.

you can check http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/ for rifle parts.... probably the best quality products available with out stepping way up in price to such as LMT or Noveske

if you really want to research all your available options you might want to check the wealth of knowledge on these rifles at.
