Bird of Prey..

The farmer agrees that he did infact kill the bird and accepts the responsibility for that. You are right, it could have easily been a blad eagle, seagull, ect. All should not be harmed.

The issue here is the camera and it's usage on private land with out warrant.

i guess i'm not really crazy about the camera issue, but the game wardens did have probable cause.

if the guy was inoccent, they would have not set up the camera. they suspected something was up.

would you guys have felt differently if it was a bald eagle?

Did you read the article in it's entirety? If so, you may want to read it again because you may have skipped a line or ten. The debate is not whether it is ok to kill a bird of prey....he admitted he did that...although he claims to have done that to put the bird(s) out of it's misery, so that becomes a moral and ethical issue. Would you have preferred he let mortally wounded birds go so they could suffer and then die naturally of starvation because they could no longer hunt?

Where is the probable cause? Because someone said he had done it? What if I said you had committed some heinous act...would that be sufficient probable cause to set up a video camera on your property w/o a warrant? Would it be cause to break into your home and search it w/o a warrant?

nooooooo i did red the article.

the way i interpeted the post was that the killing of the birds was not the 1st time that the farmer did it. someone dropped the dime on him.

the game warden went there based on the tip. saw the traps with the pigeons as bait. considered this was enough probable cause to set up the camera to monitor the traps.

sounds like you just have a problem with law enforcement in general if you ask me.

i guess, maybe its my up bringing......i have no problem with big brother watching me, cause he's wasting his time since i obey all game laws.

What if he's watching you on video surveillance and see's you break another law? Maybe an obscure one you had no knowledge of? It's a slippery slope if you ask me.

Nope, no problem with law enforcement. If I get a bonafide ticket then I deserved it. if i get some bs ticket for some trivial violation then I would prefer common sense prevail...although that is asking a lot with some of them.

I for one don't willfully break laws, but I think anyone who doesn't see the dangers with the type of law enforcement behavior is crazy. The Gov constantly is expanding their control and limiting our rights. I have broken the law many times without knowing... A few years back, I am fishing a reef that I have fished for many many years, when the Man shows up and informs me that I am in violation as the Gov had made that piece of ocean a Marine Sanctuary. No notice to anyone, just made the place restricted.

I was supposed to be appreciative that they let us go with only a warning. Ummm..... That fancy boat he has is paid for with yours and my Tax dollars!

I am not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way, the Government forgot that it works for US, the people.

I am not a radical, but this country is long over do for some restructuring... be it by the Government realizing it's aggrievances or thru the people revolting.
