But before lambasting Paul any further, the fact is that it is not only legal, it is not only acceptable, but it is actually encouraged that hunters exchange tags and/or game in Florida state game management areas.
In other words, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC) urges not-so-lucky hunters to leave their tags behind at the tag stations and entry areas for other more-prolific hunters to use OR for hunters that haven't filled their tag yet to fill it by clinging onto the coattails of a luckier hunter.
I was given this information by a co-worker who also teaches FWC hunter-safety courses on weekends on an unpaid volunteer basis. He's been doing this for over ten years and is one of the senior teaching staff now. I reckon he knows a mite more about Florida state game laws than any of us, don't you?
The one big no-no he said you cannot do is SELL your unfilled tag to someone else. Paul clearly did not violate that reg here, so I think it's time we cut Paul some slack and congratulate him on one hell of a day of good hunting.
