WHAT A SETTING!!! BEAUTIFUL BELLS ISLAND IN CURRITUCK COUNTY NC....THE DUCK HUNTING CAPITAL OF THE SOUTH......

I'M SITTING AT THE DINING TABLE WITH "SWANCALLER" MIKE...AND GLENN W....ANTHONY & HIS DAD HERE AT STUART'S HUNTING LODGE ........IF I RELAXED ANY MORE....I WOULD NOT BE BREATHING....

I ARRIVED LATE BECAUSE OF THE MARYLAND SNOW AND SWANCALLER TOOK GLENN AND ANTHONY ON FULL DAY OPEN WATER HUNT IN CURRITUCK SOUND......AFTER AN EARLY MORNING BREAKFAST AT THE LODGE....DECOYS WERE DEPLOYED AND THE FUN BEGAN.....

FIRST CRITTER TO SPLASH WAS A BULL SPRIG...AKA PINTAIL....WHAT A BEAUTY.....NEXT..THE DIVERS CAME IN...BANG KAPOW!!!! SPLISH SPLASH BIRDS ARE DOWN....WITH HAND SIGNALS FROM "SWAN"...SAGE FIRES OUT INTO THE COLD ASS WATER AND RETRIEVES ALL BIRDS....WHAT A SIGHT!!!"

A LIMIT OF BLUEBILLS FOR THE GANG AND A BONUS OF TWO TUNDRA SWANS PERMITS WERE FILLED!!!

ALL HUNTERS WERE EXHAUSTED BY SUNDOWN AND I GREETED THEM ALL AT THE DOCK

LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT A FIVE STAR MEAL AWAITED ME AT STEWART'S LODGE!!! STEAMED OYSTERS....SOFT SHELL CRAB....HOMEMADE TUNA SALAD...GRILLED TUNA....STEAMED SHRIMP....GEEZUS H I AM IN HEAVEN!!!

WHAT A SHOW...I HOPE I CAN GET TO SLEEP FOR 5 AM IS GONNA COME QUICK......TOMORROW I JOIN THE BARTA AUCTION WINNERS OF THE DUCK HUNT AND WILL BE FILMING THE EVENT

I'm so pooped, I popped somewhere on I64. Well, we decided to give the puddlers a go for it today. We set up first thing in a true Greenhead honey hole. We miffed an easy shot at a pair of Teal early, but the Greenheads were very, very few. Scratched down a hen about 8:00. Nothing was flying, plain and simple. After several phone calls to fellow guides at the lodge, it was slow throughout the sound--- except for the Diver shooting which was way too far away to make that long run this late in the morning.

We had 1 Swan permit left to be filled, so we went to the "sure thing" Swan hole. No doubt about this place, As we were going down the sound and about a mile away from our location--- 1,000 to 1,500 Tundra Swans "whited" the sky. We had several Blacks and Pintails give us the look see and were able to manage one Black Duck. We filled the Swan tag in short order and then watched them pour into our speard the rest of the afternoon. It was a blast just watching the Stratigic Air Command doing Touch an Goes all afternoon in the spread.
Marty should have video in a few days (or as soon as he gets the feeling back in his toes and fingers)

Dang Glenn, I was waaaay too pooped to post anything up last night...would have fallen asleep at the keyboard! Had a great time at Belle's Island, good hunting, great company (except for Doc ) and super food (thank you, Todd Dammit!). Any of yall want a great waterfowling experience, call our own "Swancaller" Mike and he will take good care of you...and as the video will show, there is no doubt as to how he got his name.
