    Banded Pintail Drake

Just got back from a day down at the lake. We had an OK day but a lot of variety. We had 8 hunters and everyone got their pintails. We got 5 wood ducks in the morning and I got a pintail in the afternoon. Among the other guys in our group their were teal, merganser(sp), ring necks, a shoveler, a black duck, and mallards...quite a grab bag. One of the other guys in my group of friends was on his very first duck hunt and got a banded drake pintail. I will attach some pics of the ducks I shot. P.S I have never seen more ducks in the air in my entire life...the hard part was getting them interested. The first picture is of the wood duck hole, the second is the ducks I got out of that hole in the morning. The third is of the pintail impoundment, and the fourth and fifth are the pictures of my pintail in the afternoon.

Congratulations Sea Frog. Sounds like you all had a great hunt. Nice job on the banded Pintail. Did you all hunt with Pat Simmons it looks like his place from the pics? Just wondering.

The lake area is a special place for sure..when the weather is right it can equal anywhere in the country

Not to bust your balls...but the limit on wood ducks is two per person..a quick edit job may be in order

I actually shot 3 of the woods 2 drake and one female, my buddy shot the others. I have actually decided to have the woody on the far left in the picture mounted. I am pretty new to duck hunting and have 1 season under my belt. Havin' a ball with the hunting and the BS each evening.

Couple more pics. The pics of the other guys birds are too big to post. I was the only once who's camera was set to take smaller photos. Thie pic of the banded pintail after the hunt with all the other pintails was classic. I want a banded bird one day.

Pat is a pleasure to hunt with. I spoke with him today and he said that they had some pretty good shoots last week. He said he is booked solid for this last week. Looks like there will be some pretty ducky weather heading to eastern nc this week. I hope everyone that gets out has some good shoots. It is pretty amazing to watch the birds come out of the lake in the evenings and head towards the impoundments. Smart little boogers. They have it figured out pretty good. I swear that some of them were wearing wrist watches. Mattamuskeet is definitely a beautiful place during duck season.

I think they do wear wrist watches. If we all had swan permits each one of us could have gotten a swan. Also snow geese.
