    Bad Day on the Farm

Went over to Moms house last night to visit after she had a little surgery yesterday. Upon returning home I noticed my lab limping across the driveway. I immediately ran over to him and found he had been hit by a car and his front leg was broken.

He had scrapes all over him from where he took the tumble on the Coquina road. His spirits were up though still wanting to play. I grabbed him up and rushed him to the all night emergency vet an hour away.

He confirmed the break and placed a splint on the leg last night. This morning I took him to the family vet and found he had also broke the rear leg too.

Hes in surgery now having them both set. Jebs a 120lb Lab.....so this is going to be an experience caring for such a large dog with two broken legs.

Cant figure out who ran him over and I wonder if they even knew they may have hit him. Hard to believe they would not have stopped to check on him.

Duck season wont be the same this year with that Big Meathead not in the blind.

When it Rains it Pours around here.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Too bad you can't find out who the ignorant SOB was who hit your dog. 120 lbs.??? That is as big as the ave. deer. They knew they hit him. They just didn't stop. I hope he has a speedy recovery!!!

Hope your mom recovers fast too!!!

Our Chocolate Lab is roughly 105 lbs.

Why be pissed at the person who hit the dog........How about the guy that let his dog run unattended.

    Sorry thats just irresponsible!

PS: I am on my 3rd Lab, so I am not a Lab hater.

Sorry to hear that Ace, we're a man short in the blind this year too. In Canada last month, ours took a dive into a pond that beavers had their fun in and came back with a 7 inch sharp stick in his belly. He needed 141 stitches, but he is a fighter and one tough pup. He had already retrieved about 70 birds just on that one trip!!!

Oh you can bet you a$$ I would be pissed at the person who hit my dog. Yes, it would be my fault that my dog was running wild but at least have the common courtesy to stop and say, "sorry, I hit your dog". Don't just drive away!!! That is just plain ignorant.

THANKS for your concern a$$hole.........by the way I live on a 400 acre farm. I dont keep my dog holed up in a pen with that much area to play. I didnt come on here being mad at whoever run him over... i just said I couldnt believe they didnt stop to help him or if they even knew they may have hit him. You may have to keep your labs in a pen but I dont have to. Its a chance I will take.

Our dog broke its leg the other night jumping off the bed. Leg slide between the mattress and footboard. Just picture a black boxer wit a hot pink cast. It only lasted one day until she decide to eat the thing off. I guess she had an itch to get to.

Bummer about your buddy man. At least he is still kicking. I am sure what goes around comes around and the idiot that hit him will "get his."

Here's to a speedy and FULL recovery!

My grandpa once said to me..."if you ain't got nothing good to say, then don't say nothing at all." I pray your 3rd lab never wander's away...chases after a poorly tossed tennis ball, ever gets loose and chases after your truck when you’re headed out to the dock. Dude, sometimes chit happens...doesn't mean you need to shove a guys nose in it!
