Except when you own or lease a property that has a house on a lot next door, out front, behind or god forbid in the middle by right of way. 300 yds is a long ways.

    Think of it this way:

hmm. maybe buy a .5 acre lot with a trailer in the middle of some state land then you will get around 58.4 acres to hunt all to yourself.

So again if my math is correct for every unfriendly neighbor you have you could lose nearly 60 acres of your lease or rights to hunt your own land.

    Mrs. Capt-D, Liam and Avery!

    Exclamation House Bill 1309 PULLED!!!!!

NRA-ILA is pleased to report that House Bill 1309 was pulled by the Maryland House Environmental Matters Committee.

HB1309, sponsored by Delegates Barbara Frush (D-21) and James Hubbard (D-23A), would have arbitrarily expanded the hunting "safety zone" from 150 yards to 300 yards from any occupied building.

Thank you to all of the NRA members who answered the call to action against this bill. Without you, this victory would not have been possible.

Please continue checking your email and http://www.NRAILA.org to stay up-to-date on other Second Amendment and hunting-related issues in Maryland.

How is a restriction of firearms hunters a benifit to bow hunters?

This came about because some moron in Howard County took a stupid shot towards a child care center. I wish there was a way to restrict idiots rather than restricting the rest of us.

I'll contact our local reps too! I was afraid this was going to happen as soon as the Howard Co incident was in the news.

This DOES include bows...they are considered a weapon.

This would exclude probably 1/3 of the huntable land in suburban MD. I bowhunt several areas that are within 75 yards of houses. This would eliminate some of my most productive locations.

DropinBacks theory of how this will benefit bowhunters - I think he means it will put less gun pressure in many areas that a bowhunter will have access to, therefore better oppourtunity for bowhunters.

As far as permission goes...yes you can gain written permission of the land owner...however if the property is also within the specified distance (currently 150 yds) of a neighboring proprty structure, you have to gain permission from them also.

Capt-D and anyone else for that matter - I personally know one of our local delegates and would be glad to set up a meeting with him to discuss this issue...just get in touch with me and let me know if you are interested...I will definitley be in touch with him to discuss this matter.
