Looking to take my son down to assateague for the late jan firearms season. We have a potable blind to sit in, was wondering if any one had any advice, any areas typically better than others etc. we do plan on getting a osv tag.

I hunt there alot so my advice would be get in the marsh I do not care how much sign you see in the pine woods or sand dunes get in the marsh and look for trails coming out of the murkle hell and look for FRESH tracks. I usually hunt out of a camp seat and use shooting stick a 30lb deer at last light 125 yrds away can be a tought target for anyone. Once you find a spot with alot of fresh traffic back up and get a good ways back and find some cover you can sit in and see the trail. Also remeber to set up for the sun meaning face west in the morning and east afternoon the sun can really mess you up sitting on the ground like that and wont be able to pick up the little devils in your scope.
