He had a great time last year bagging his first Doe! The night before, we were out & he was using a youth compound maxed at 40lb draw & shot at a nice 5 point and hit it in the front shoulder & the damn arrow bounced off. So, that night I went out & bought him a crossbow & the very next night he put one straight & true thru both lungs on the Doe! I didn't get a pic. with my digital but I did get one with a throw away camera! I'll try & post that if I can figure it out!
That's a good idea! I'll take some pics next time we practice & post them up on here!
These four bucks were hammering the beans. These are just four of the 15 or so 2-3 year olds? I did catch a glimpse of one of the big boys tonight but couldn't get a pic. What do you guys think age? more tomm night
Those are some nice boys there!
Nice bachelor group you've got there.
Don't stink up the place and put your stands in the bottoms of the funnel. Place them along the edge and set them for different wind directions. Don't be afraid to go HIGH with these stands. Deer walking up the edges have a tendency to look up at you. I like 25' as a minimum height when there is a variance in the terrain.
Don't disturb the bedding area and hunt off the side of it right where it meets a travel route. You'll have your bucks sniffing down wind quite a bit as the rut gets going.
I agree that your place isn't really big enough to "manage" but with self management you just might increase your chances of getting, or at least seeing a big boy.
Take plenty of does, but not enough to mess up the area and make the bucks more nocturnal then they'll already be.
Looks like a great place. Can't wait to see your hunt reports.

wanted to check out the middle bean field tonight. I was out there at 2 p.m. and was greeted by two nice 8 points already in the field . I could just see there racks poking over the beans due to the elevation changes these Bucks love to use in these fields. I eased out right away so not to spook them. I moved on to the front field and got some cool pics of a few fawns and a nice little 8 who needs a few years. Did not see any of the monsters tonight.
How are you getting these pictures Brian?
