    THE ANTIS ARE ANGRY...

It is with a heavy heart that we must pass along this news regarding the hunt. APLNJ and The BEAR Group sent out this press release moments ago. Please see our next alert for actions we will be holding next week and contact us if you would like to get involved.
    -------------------------------------------------

    MEDIA ADVISORY For Immediate Release

    December 1, 2011
    Contact: Doris Lin

Animal Advocates Will Appeal Court's Bear Hunt Decision

TRENTON - The Animal Protection League of NJ and the Bear Education And Resource Group intend to appeal today's Appellate Court decision allowing the state's 2010 Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy to stand. APLNJ and the BEAR Group filed the appeal in 2010 to challenge scientific and procedural flaws in the policy that is the basis of the black bear hunt. The groups will appeal the decision to the NJ Supreme Court and continue to protest the unjustified recreational trophy hunt scheduled to take place in New Jersey December 5 through 11, 2011.

Doris Lin, Esq., attorney for APLNJ and the BEAR Group, states, "We're disappointed that the court disregarded the science and instead gave such deference to the Division of Fish and Wildlife as to effectively hold them above the law. The hunt is a trophy hunt, plain and simple. No state agency should be allowed to misrepresent their own science and push the agenda of a special interest minority."

An example of a scientific flaw of the policy is the misrepresentation of the bear complaint data. Professor Ed Tavss of Rutgers University found that The Division artificially inflated bear complaint data by gathering bear complaint numbers from more police departments, and then comparing the data to previous years that included fewer police departments. Even the NJ Fish & Game Council admitted in 2009 that their change in protocol meant that their bear complaint data should not be compared to data from previous years.

    Bear Education And Resource Group????,

Why is it that these group's throw "education" into their slogan's. Should it be "indoctrination" instead. Sound's pretty pious to me, guess when you have enough education you don't require meat in your diet. As I have mentioned in previous post's, in previous year's. I take no animal that I do not eat and black bear are some of the best eating critter's I have had the priviledge to stock my freezer with. Frank

    NYBH,

When I was recently in Alaska, I asked about the eating of black bear there. Same thing, they said they didn't taste all that great. Must be the food source. Our bear here are able to eat quite abit out of the farm field's, grain fed so to speak. I have yet to have a bad one that I have handled yet. There are alot of folk's here that swear up and down that they can't stand the taste of bear meat. That's until they come to my house and eat it like pig's, not knowing what it is. It's all about getting the skin off fast, cutting off all the fat and getting the carcass cool as soon as possible. I ice mine for about a week, letting the water drain continuously. I expect it's just like fish, if you don't tend to the meat properly your wasting your time. I'd be more than willing to talk you through how I handle the meat. Makes the best stew meat and burger, bar none!!! That's my experience. Frank

Any bear meat you don't want, I'll take! I think it's some tasty stuff. Had bear from NY, Maine, New Brunswick, and Colorado. All of it was tasty.

Shoot, I live the closest. I've eaten bear from Maine, Colorado and Oregon. the one from oregon was the closest to gamy that I had. I agree with frank let em hang and keep um cool. I also like them for the grinder and slow cooking. The only thing i don't care for is they look a lot like a human hangin when you skin them. Good luck next week, Glad someone in NJ got there head out of their a$$ and will let this hunt go on. This state is really a socialist republic. I love it and hate it for what it offers.

Let's let the"antis" take the garbage out in the suburbs of Wayne, NJ and see if they don't come screaming back into the house with shit in their pants. Perhaps they'll see the light.
