ANTI BEAR HUNTING...
"Crime Scene" Protest Update and Appreciation
BEAR Group Members, Friends and Supporters,
Over 80 people turned out in Trenton on Monday at the BEAR Group's "Scene of the Crime" Rally against the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW)! This was surely our biggest turnout ever for a Trenton event and we are thrilled. Thank you all for your amazing spirit, your creativity, and your passion.
You helped us show DFW that we are MORE than willing to come to their turf to show New Jersey how unethical and how lawless they really are.
And you did it with flair.
Collectively, we intrigued the press, passersby, and even the police! The best part is, we got great coverage by the Star Ledger, NewJerseyNewsroom.com and WVLT radio.

And thanks to our fantastic line-up of speakers, who inspired everyone to keep up the fight to protect our bears:
Stuart Chaifetz: Investigator, SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness
Merrilee Cichy: Legislative District Director, LOHV-NJ; Founder, Keep Life In the Park
Jay Lassister: League of Humane Voters of New Jersey. See Jay's video here: YouTube
Doris Lin, Esq.: Director of Legal Services, APLNJ; VP of Legal Affairs, BEAR Group
Angi Metler: Executive Director, Animal Protection League of New Jersey; Chair, League of Humane Voters of New Jersey
Susan Russell: Wildlife Policy Specialist, LOHV-NJ; BEAR Group/APLNJ*
Kathleen Schatzmann: New Jersey State Director, Humane Society of the United States
Jeff Tittel: Director, New Jersey Sierra Club
*Susan Russell had last minute car trouble, so was unable to make it. She works tirelessly for our bears and is currently working on a paper that will expose DFW further.
We would also like to thank everyone who helped make the day extra special:
Donna Arcaro and Jessica Ciccarelli, who made calls to the BEAR Group's entire membership to encourage them to come to the rally. Doris Lin and Jeff Suter, for devising and creating the wonderfully engaging life-size bear stencils' that helped make the day so unique. More thanks to Jeff for running our sound system. Dale Jones, for managing our merchandise table.
Thank you to everyone who drove a carpool, hung crime scene tape/wanted posters, helped draw bear silhouettes and spoke during Open Mike.
Keep checking your e-mail for our next event, and keep the faith!
Yours for the bears,
Eleanor Hoffman and Cathy McCartney
