Alas, duck season is over.

Looking back on the past duck season, Maybelle says it was a good one, and I agree.

This was the Boykin's second season, and she improved greatly.

My shooting however remained consistantly poor.

We got to go to Canada with Big Dan to hunt with Paul, Norm and Ruddy. We had pretty good shooting on the geese and ducks. Maybelle learned alot from Ruddy (both good and bad). Ruddy, Paul's 5 yo Chesapeake is probably the best retriever I have ever seen. She was tuned up I tell ya and did not like sharing her work with the little brown dog.

We hunted a couple of times in the Dragon and had some good shootin on the woodrows and black ducks.

We hunted the woods around here and had some fun on the gadwalls, mallards, blacks and woodrows. Occaisionally, a buffle died too.

We had a good trip to the Eastern Shore with the Halfmoon Waterfowl Preservation Society (duck camp) and got Geese, Blacks and Widgeons. The dogs love the duck camp.

The sound was good hunting this year too, probably more redheads than I can every remember, lots of pintails too, a few widgeons, gads, mallards also. Brant seemed to be way off. Man I got to get one of those pretty Red Heads mounted!

All in all a great season!

sounds like you had a great season jay. Yea always depressed to see it end.

It was a great year though, shot a good bit of ducks, probably has been my best year yet. Didnt kill the amount of honkers as i usually do but tried to focus on the ducks more. Got to see what Arkansas hunting is all about, and flooded timber.

oh and best yet I have developed the nickname THE BUFFLE SNIPER
