BeagleMan and RoundHead both had good weekends. They each got an eight pointer at the dog club Saturday morning. The one BeagleMan got had already lost his velvet, but RoundHeads was still in good velvet. First drive I got turned out in a thick brier patch. Really thick, and about eight feet tall. It was a good spot for the deer though. The beagles quickly jumped a pair of bucks. One was the eight point that BeagleMan killed, the other was a smaller four point. The beagles ran the little one around the club for about two hours before we were able to catch them up. On the next drive I got turned out in an area that was a little nicer walking, mature hardwoods and cypress pond. After rambling around in there for about twenty minutes, my old beagle smokey jumped a little deer, and boo'd around after him for a while. I still had six beagles with me, and then they jumped a drove of does. Took a long time to get them off of that. While all of this was going on, RoundHead was sitting in the right spot trying to catch his beagles, when a nice buck in velvet tried to slip out of the hunt. The club then took a break for lunch, we headed to the farm to sit the stands. Sitting in the stand did not pay off. All that was seen was does and little bucks. None were taken. Sunday while we were relaxing in the lodge, I noticed out the window that there were some deer in the field. It was twelve thirty Sunday, there were some does, little ones with spots, and a four point browsing the peanut field. Sunday evening Joey sat the farm, and watched eight deer on his stand, and leaving the woods, he saw a pair on another stand. I sat the field and saw none.
