The bow has been hung up for a few days. MD's muzzleloader season is in.
It's raining a little here on the Eastern shore. The ducks are quacking and the squirrels are out and about. There were two misses this morning on the farm. A doe and a decent 8 or 10 pt.
There are 5 of us out here and I hope to hear some shooting shortly.

Blood Pile
Well did you bust one tonite..... Darn capt that was a massive blood pile...$5 says that deer is in a heap in a brior knot less than 50 yards from that pile.....hope you found 'em.
That blood pile was about within 15 yds of the impact shot and was the only pile along the whole trail. The rest was a drop here and a drop there. We followed for at least 150 yds. past the pile pictured and no deer. The trail ran out.
You can send me a check for the $5.
Nothing tonight. Just a ton of Blackducks, Mallards, Greenwing teal, 1 hen pintail and some woodies.
At least I can look forward to the duck opener on Saturday.
I'm back at it again w/ a muzzleloader in hand. There's a stiff north breeze and a sprinkle of rain now and again.
I am in a ground blind tonight along a marshy thicket w/ very few large trees. There is a 350 acre field behind me with geese and ducks feeding in it. I'm expecting something to come out @ the edge of dark. Hopefully they don't notice this new "bush". At worst I'll get a good air show from the ducks and geese.
A young doe poked her head out around the phrag grass and started doing the "what the hell is that?" head bob.
I had just farted, and my ground blind absolutely stunk. I started laughing and she snorted and jumped and ran away. She only went about 10 yds then turned back around and walked back out.
By now I had my gun in hand and had regained my composure. She jumped and flipped her tail again.
The third time ended up being a charm. She came back out and cleared the marsh grass. She wouldn't turn broadside so I put it in her chest. 295 grain powerbelt went in the chest. Took out the front shoulder and stopped in her pelvis. She did the wheelbarrow and crashed about 100 yds away in the woods.
She was surprisingly clean on the inside with massive damage to one lung and her guts.
She left almost no blood trail. It was a good thing I saw where she went into the woods.
1 week left of doe only ML. Time to put some more meat in the freezer.
