John had a single deer come out and he thought it looked bigger than a fawn so he got ready for the shot. It went from 115 yds from the stand to 10 then out to 60 and as light faded he took the shot. He made another great shot and it ran about 30 yds and piled up.
We got to give him a hard time about the buttons. He said he saw them but wasn't sure if that's what I meant by buttons. NO COMMENT
Either way it's meat in the freezer. We cut him up ourselves and my back up fridge is a little bloody.
Grasshopper brought me out to his suburban spot tonight and we're 60yds from a deck and 10 from a shed. It's strange, but after climbing the stand at 3:40 we immediately spotted a bedded doe @ 80 yds down the hill and cross wind. It blowing pretty darn good from the NW. About 3:45 a small racked 4 point chased 3 does around and got them off their beds. 2 more came out of no where and they headed towards the big white oak in the yard.
2 big does, a Gravy dripper doe, and a BB started feeding.
I tried for a gravy dripper doe at the request of my dad, but settled for a big doe.
I drew on the GD but a tree got in the way. I stopped the big one w/ a bleat and had to lean around a tree to make the shot from a seated position.
She crashed after about 50 yds and it looked like a double lung w/ some ventricles involved.
The 4 point followed their trail up the hill and walked off none the wiser. It's good to get back in a groove after a bad performance last bow trip.
Here come 2 more up the hill, and it's spitting a little bit of rain.
That thing has been in there for at least 4 years. My great uncle used to drink them and he hasn't been around for at least 3 years.
I hope it hasn't infected the Heineken or Stella. I think there's some natty light stage left, just in front of a Bass, might be a grolsch next to that Talk about a wide range of flavors.
