25 Minutes Daylight & Running Out of Tags

I'll start out to say that Nolan made up for his opening day of rifle season misfortune. After that opener, the second week of rifle he swapped the 270wtbmag for the trusty ole 243 and his younger brother used the mag to knock down 2 deer while Nolan came up empty for the second hunt.

Today started out at 22 degrees and a chance of snow midday. We were thinking of striper but the forecast for the Bay was jumping up and down and we fell back on a hunt. The crisp still morning silence was broken by the first bark of the mag and Nolan takes an amazing Fall Gobbler tipping the 21# mark with a solid 9" rope and fat 1" spurs. Not long after the echo the second bark and he drops a small doe in its tracks. Third bark and he fills his third tag of the day with another doe. The morning sky just barely light and Nolan realizes that a bear tag is all he has left at just 20 minutes after the 7th hour! Not a bad job for a thirteen year old and his first hunting license with included tags.

Wyatt and Ewing join Nolan for a picture with the addition of Wyatts trophy grey squirrel for a picture in front of their favorite teachers home.

Nolan making an offering of appreciation after his memorable morning.

What a day to forget the camera, thanks to T for offering these great pictures to record the day!

congrats to Nolan x3 and to Wyatt as well. I started out with the squirrels and was a heck of lot older than Nolan before and deer or turkey died on my account. Great pictures guys, keep them coming.

Thanks! Fortunate that the family makes it possible to bring these reports to WAHOONBOX.
My dad was coming to town for a short visit and drop off a chunk of granite at my brothers. We were going to get him out on the ChesBay and the Thurs Wx went to 4' and 20k+ winds. We settled on fur bearing 4 foot'rs and just like the forecast changed, Nolan dropped a 2 foot'r! Dad got a shot but it didn't make contact, he hasn't been exposed to the number of deer we see and gets pretty excited...very excited and said he was moving. Pretty cool seeing him getting a bad case of buck fever at his age over a couple of doe. Still looking to get dad on the trophy striper.
