    Tuna Time!

They're a little late, but I've been so busy lately!

    Date: Wednesday, August 1st, 2007
Crew: My dad, Sydney, my friend Dan (Tuna123), and myself
Up at 3:30, Wawa at quarter of 4, and picking Dan up at 4. We arrived at the marina by quarter of 5, and after cutting some baits and getting organized, we shoved off at quarter of 6. Hoping to catch the early tuna bite, we ran out and started chunking. After just a few hours we decided to run out to the Wilmington and try our luck with some trolling. We trolled around some pots and ended up with two dolphin, caught by Sydney and Dan. An hour into our trolling, one of our rods started screaming off. I jumped up, grabbed the rod, and set the hook. With the drag set high, the fish was still screaming off with my line, but then line went slack. I reeled as fast as I could, but the hook had pulled. We're pretty sure it was a tuna, but we didn't see the fish. We called it a day a little later, and headed for home. On the way in, we stopped and dropped for some flounder, we had a few sea robin and I caught one flounder. All in all, we had a lot of fun and Syd was really excited to have Dan on board!

Crew: My dad, Sydney, my uncle Murph, and my dad's friend Vince (Vince the Prince )
Again, up at 3:30, picked up Uncle Murph at 4, and down at the marina by quarter of 5. Everything was put on the boat in no time and we were shoving off by 5:30. We wanted to try for some tuna on the chunk again, so we ran out and started chunking right away. With no luck in the morning, besides one dusky, we made a move and started chunking once again. In just a few minutes, we hooked into a nice fish, and soon it was brought to the boat. We gaffed it, brought it in the boat, and it measured out at 50 inches. No action for the rest of the afternoon, so we started our very wet ride in. We reached the dock at around 4. Th guys wanted to weigh the fish and get some pictures, so we weighed. Our bluefin weighed-in at 65.5 lbs. I speak for everyone when I say we had a fun-filled day. Good people and lots of laughs; what more can you ask for?!
