    Is there such a thing...

    as fishing withdrawal?

If so, I'm there! I haven't been out since my birthday! It's killing me! We went down and fished underneath the bridge by my dad's house today, but with no luck, I've officially diagnosed myself with fishing withdrawal to the highest degree!

Here's a picture of how calm it was by the bridge and the gorgeous sunsets we get off my dad's porch!

Unfortunately you share a condition many people get. Heck, I even get it and I fish a lot. My wife recognizes it in me sometimes before I do... "You're making me crazy. You need to go and kill something..."
Well she's right. I come up with lame excuses like nobody to go with or the boat is too much trouble to get ready. It boils down though to being my fault. One cure and one cure only. Go fishing. It doesn't have to be big game or something exotic. Any fish will do. Grab a stick and some string and bend wire into a hook if you have to. Find water, most any water. Turn over a rock and grab a worm or a clam or someting and get it in the water on the end of the stick.
Before you know it you start feeling better and the craziness of land life drifts away. Get on your bike or just get them feet moving left and right. Go fishing and it will fix it. I promise...

Yes there is such a thing and theres only one cure,i thought i could sustain the affects by chasing around some catfish in a local river.......but it only fueled the fire, i need to smell the marsh as we motor out to the promised land, clearing the inlet and pointing her twards a temp break teeming with gaffers. I long for the feeling of salt encrusted pores on my face, blood splattered cockpits and screaming reels....it has been too long. I need a fix......restless nights counting tuna like sheep, I have got offshore withdraw and i got it bad......lord give me strength.

Glad I'm not the only one! The feeling that I get when I'm out there is irreplaceable by any other feeling. Each part of the fishing day is accompanied by a different feeling that is just amazing.

The ride out gets you pumped; it feels like forever, and by the time you reach the fishing grounds, you're practically bursting with the need for blood on the deck.

Setting out the spread or rigging up or cutting bait; you can't wait to just get it all out there and get fishing, but you know that the wait is all worth while.

Then you hear the scream of the first reel! Exhilaration at its best! Your heart starts pumping and you reach for the rod.

You set the hook, and you feel like the strongest person in the world, but when that fish pulls back, its strength is sobering.

You fight that fish, as long as that fish can fight back, but you can never tire before him. You have to respect that fish but pull even harder than he can. You're sweating, you're tired, and you want to quit, but the adrenaline is enough to push you through.

The fight is over; the fish is boatside. Whether you're releasing or killing, it doesn't matter, when you get a good look at that fish, you're awestricken. You and that fish just stood toe-to-toe, and now you see why it was all worth it. The adrenaline rush over for now, but hopefully soon, there will be another fish to put it up again.

Every time we go out, we are blessed with feelings that only a fisherman can comprehend, beauties that only a fisherman could appreciate, and memories that will last forever.

I just hope I can get out there to make more memories soon, because I think land sickness is starting to set in!

Ann I have it every single day I cannot get out on the water. It gets worse when the days start to get consecutive. All I can think about is the ride out of the inlet in the morning and the wonderful tug of a fish on the other end of the line. I don't even care what kind of fish it is. I just need to feel it. Now I'm going crazy. I better get out soon!!!!!

Absolutely Ann and the effects can cause serious health problems. Withdrawal pains are for real. The only cure is to get back out there.

Thanks Flat! Can't wait for striper season! I'm hoping to catch my first 40 this year!

The fishing desire is killing me! My dad just told me that we may try to tackle an overnighter Saturday into Sunday! I sure hope so!
