Sandy Hook, Here We Come

My dad and I are fishing the Sandy Hook ASA tournament this weekend and I can't wait! I haven't been fishing for like 2 weeks and now I have the urge to go catch something! Hopefully we'll get a few nice fish. This snagging and then drifting for stripers is somewhat new to us, so we hope that we can find the fish and maybe get lucky!

A bunker tip - Once you find the bunker and snag a few, put your bait as close to the pod of bunker as you can get it, preferably right in the middle. The lunkers will be beneath the bunker

O.K., here it is:
Day 1-Today it was Daddy, Charles, and I. We drove up to Sandy Hook Saturday morning and we probably left the dock at around 5:30. We already had our bait so we set up on a nice rip and got into some action right away. After drifting for a while we moved to the Raritan Bay to snag some bunkers. Then we moved to chunk right off the shores of Sandy Hook. Thank you to Lance on the Rockhound for calling us when he found the good bite! At the end of the day we ended-up with a nice 28 pounder! In all we caught about 20 fish!

Day 2-First we snagged some bait, just Daddy and I. Then we moved back to the rip we were at the day before but we only got bluefish. So we moved a little further south than where we were the day earlier to chunk. We got maybe 15 fish the whole day, and the biggest weighed-in at around 26 pounds!

We ended-up finishing 6th overall and I was 3 places behind for junior! This had to be one of the most fun tournaments yet, this year! Thanks to Charles for fishing with us on Day 1 and to everyone who makes these tournaments worth while!
