How do I unwind after a stressful week of tournament fishing? Why I go fishing of course!

I came home this weekend and all the kids wanted to do was go fishing. I said ok but my son was very disappointed when he realized that we were not going all the way to Ocean City.

He perked up once we loaded up the rods and headed to the office pond.

Both Jack and Alli caught a bunch of bluegill & sunnies and even netted several crayfish & bullfrog tadpoles (a few even made it back to the pond at home). We took a ride out on the paddle boat and just enjoyed a nice afternoon together after being away for the week.

So anyway.....I'm on this circle hook kick right? I'm going through the boy's tackle box and come across some 2/0 circles. Hummmm...... I had seen some decent sized bass over in the submerged bushes on the far side of the pond. Had a few lookers with a spinner bait when we first got there but no luck. Hey - what about some live baiting with the crayfish on a circle hook?

I rigged up and made some casts into the area where the bass had been laid up. Long story short - no luck on the bass. BUT - I did catch a nice bluegill on a circle hook. Same deal as the billfish - let 'em eat then engage a bit of drag. Darn thing got hooked right in the corner of the mouth!
