Our very own Anngler (Ann Unsworth) brought in a nice 6.5 lb (27 inch) flounder while fishing w/her family aboard the Mod Squad (25 Contender) on Friday, July 3. This flounder brings her another pending IGFA record. All in all, they had a great catch that day w/some very nice flounder and also some sea bass.
I'm sure Ann will be posting her full report after the weekend. Congrats Ann another great catch!!! ![]()

Thanks guys!
Sorry for the lack of posts lately; between Squid's baseball games and work and just "life" it has been hard to get out, but we finally snuck a day in! Had to delay this post due to double header on games today! Sorry, but baseball rules the roost right now! Friday, July 3rd, 2009 *5:30 AM, Capt. Daddy forces himself out of bed to wake the rest of the crew: Anngler, Squids, and Matthew. After several failed attempts to rouse the crew, Capt. Daddy caved; we all went back to sleep (we were supposed to be going tuna fishing). The final consensus: go back to sleep and get up late to go flounder fishing! ![]() *8:00 AM, Capt. Daddy starts to rustle the crew out of bed again. When everybody is finally awake and moving, we have a quick breakfast, hop in the car, pick up Dan (renewed member of the ModSquad crew), and then cruise down the parkway to the marina. *9:30 AM, We arrive at the marina, get packed up, load the boat, and make our way out to the fishing grounds. *10:30 AM, The fishing begins! We started out at Reef Site 11. We were able to find the fish right away and had a few keepers and several that were only 1-2 inches short. With a few in the box, we decided to make a move. *1:00 PM, To the Cape May Reef! A sun-worn and tired crew and a just as tired captain, we decide to try the Cape May Reef on the way home. After just a few drifts, we all start hooking into bigger fish: 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 pounders, and my 6.5 pounder! We pound the area for a few more drifts and then decide to call it quits.*Sometime:late afternoon PM , We pull into the dock to fuel up, Syd grabs Snickers for the crew, and we work our way up to the weigh station. With fingers crossed and hopeful wishes in my mind, my flounder goes onto the scale. . . . 6.5 lbs: my biggest yet, and a potential world record! At the end of the day, our final tally was 6 keeper flounder, all between 3-6.5 pounds, and a 1 pound black sea bass (a new Hinch marina record caught by Dan Pettit! ). Best of all, each of us had a great time. . . . even Matthew, once he got warmed up!Big thanks to everybody at Hinch's for helping me with getting everything together for my record! You guys are the best! |
