We had so much fun in Montauk, fishing the ASA tournament. I'll put a post up soon!

My dad and I drove up to Montauk Friday morning. We had great sites the entire drive, and as I saw the other boats while I was on the ferry, I filled up with anxiety!

As soon as we arrived at our final destination, we hopped on the boat and went to do some pre-fishing. We caught lots of bait for the next day. When we came in, we got the boat ready for the next day, and then went to get a good night sleep.

Day 1: Before the sun, we were down at the boat and ready to fish. We were fishing on Captain Lance Rowe's boat, the Rockhound. The crew consisted of Lance, his dad Bob, my dad Matt, and me. First thing we went and fished Montauk Point. We got a few 20 pounders, there. Late in the morning, during the tide change, we went to catch more bait. After we had filled up the livewells we moved to the rips. While we were there we saw the coolest thing. I was fighting a bluefish, and when we got it up to the boat there were a few other blues and a striper that was at least 30#s, following it.

They came right up to the surface!

There we ended-up with a nice 32.25 pounder, caught by my dad.

At the end of the first day we were in sixth place.

Day 2: At first light we ran over to Bartlet's Reef and didn't do anything there. We had some bluefish and a few striper bites, but not much else. Next, we ran to the race and tried drifting. Again, we'd no luck!

We finally decided to move to the rips to catch the start of the incoming. We had less than halve an hour till the scales closed, when my dad hooked-up with a nice striper. He landed this 25# and then we raced into the scales. With time to spare, we weighed in our fish. Our final standing was in 9th place.
