    Thumbs up Hinches Shark Tourney

First off I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who made this tournament a great sucess! Chuck and Mary - you did a wonderful job with everything! We had so much fun and I'm looking forward to next year already!

    Day 1:
The weather didn't look so great so Team ModSquad took a break.

    Day 2:
Up at 4:30, at the marina by 5:30, and shoving off the dock by 6. Our crew consisted of my dad, Sydney the Shark Slayer, Capt. Lance Rowe of the Rockhound, and myself. The morning started off slow with the exception of 2 brown sharks early in the day. Later in the afternoon we hooked into a smaller mako which was sucessfully caught and released. The rest of the day was slow, but we still had fun (aside from the ocassional seasick fisherman ).

    Day 3:
Lance had to head home, so our crew was just Sydney, my dad, and I. Early morning we had 1 brown shark and nothing else until we made a move to a better spot. We spent only an hour or two at this new spot but we had 3 makos within that time. The first mako I fought to the boat and we then released it. It was a small fish, so we let it go. The second fish bit one of our balloons off and then took another bait. It was a significantly larger fish, and when it took the bait it ran right across our spread. I went to set up on it, but the line never came tight. Luckily, we got another chance at a fish. Our third mako took a bait right at the boat. The first time we got it to the boat, we leadered it, but it took a deep run towards the bottom. I brought it back to the boat, but it took yet another fun for the depths. Again, I brought him to the boat. We leadered him and put a gaff in him. After a little discussion, we decided to shoot him. We had our fish for the day, so we packed up and headed for the scales. I'd killed my first legal mako, at 82.5 pounds! It wasn't a tournament qualifying fish, but I still felt really good about catching my first legal shark!

Congrats to all of the winners! Tag Team, WTG!! You caught some great fish!

Once again, thank you to everyone at Hinch's, at Sharky's, and all of the sponsors!

Can't wait to do it all again next year!

    P.S.
    Pictures are on the way!
