Talking Finally get to go Sharking!

Yay! After having to listen to everyone else talk about their trips, my time has come! Tomorrow, Sydney the Shark Slayer, my dad and I are venturing out to chase some sharks. My friend, tuna123, was out today (he better post) and he said they had a lot of fun, so of course I have to go out and catch a bigger fish than him! We're hoping to have lots of fun tomorrow and I'm hoping to maybe catch the thresher record. The standing record is 87 lbs. so I'm hoping to get a bigger fish tomorrow! I'll keep you .

Well, we didn't exactly slay a slob, but we did have lots of fun and found a few fish.

Waking up at 5 o'clock and out the door by 5:30 started my day of shark fishing. Arrived at the marina by 6 o'clock, after our stop at Wawa, and shoved off the dock by 6:30. Our crew consisted of Sydney the Shark Slayer, my dad, and myself. After the 1 1/2 long run to the fishing grounds, we started setting up. Early in the morning I had a headache that was killing me, so I took a little snooze while my dad and Syd were setting up. After my little snooze it was slow going until about quarter of 10, when we had a mystery run-off. I went to set up on the fish, but the line never came tight. After that it was slow again until we had a mako come into the slick. It hit a whole bluefish, and took several tries to finally swallow it and allow me to set up on it. It came to the boat easy, and then the long rod went off. My dad hooked into a nice fish, so I just sat with my fish, walking it aroud the boat twice, before my dad could come and help me. He finally got his fish to the boat. A nice brown shark, he got the hook out, and then came to help me. I got my mako boatside, where we found that it was foulhooked right in the fin. Because the fish was only like 90 lbs. we decided to release it and hope for a bigger fish. Besides that double-header, we had one other bite all day. We still had so much fun and I can't wait to fish Hinch's next weekend.

Thanks Deep! We used a lot of what we learned from you. Unfortunately, we didn't land the monster of the deep, but that's just because we're saving it for next weekend.

    P.S.
    Happy Father's Day to all!

Sounds like you had fun! good job on the mako. those are the perfect size for a beginner sharker. Just wait until you hook up with a mako over 200lbs it's a whole new ballgame. Good luck at hinches, I may be there on the Risky Business. I't a 35 henriques express.
