8/27-8/28

Its been a really long time since I was able to get out on the water but finally made it. Here's the report:

My dad my girlfriend and I went up to Eastman's for some codfishing. It has been awhile since my dad have been out fishing so what better than get a fishing trip in right before I start for college again this year. I brought along my girlfriend, this was her first time saltwater fishing. Thursday Captain Nate ran the boat. I started off jigging and right away hooked up to what turned out to be a cusk. My dad also hooked into a short codfish. I soon put the jig away to bait fish looking for some haddock. At one spot I had Jacque take my rod since I had to help my dad with a tangle and she proceeded to get a nice haddock. My dad got a keeper cod. By the end of the day tangles got pretty unbearable. Captain Nate did work hard to find the fish, they just wouldn't cooperate.

Friday we had Captain Phil at the helm. We also had a few less people. We arrive at our first spot and I instantly hook up on the jig. Turns out to be a double of pollock the size of my fore arm. My dad and Jacque both hooked up. Jacque had a short cod and my dad got a keeper pollock maybe 8 pounds. The next spot produced the same lots and lots of short pollock. We moved off into the deeper water. Jacque hooked into a pretty good fish, taking some drag. She gets it up to the surface and turns out to be a nice pollock. This pollock turned out to be the pool fish. We had a tough day for keepers as the fish just didn't want to cooperate. Captain Phil worked his ass off to try and find some hungry fish but the fish were not in the mood to eat. Jacque's first fishing trip got her the pool with a 13 pound pollock. I really enjoyed watching her fight the fish and how excited she was when it was in the boat. Hope to get out there again soon.

At least you guys found a few keepers! Congrats to Jacque on her first saltwater fishing experience! Looks like it was a success!
