Day 1
Wake up Call came quick at 3:30am, but got us in the water by 4:30am. In about 5 throws with the cast net i had aporx. 75 baits for the team. With time to kill, breakfast sounded great! (thanks Jack) Got back to the boat and ran to our 1st spot around 6:50am. Waiting for lines in, we could only hope there was a cow laying right under us. Next thing i knew the whole team was hooked up...with BLUEFISH
. I happened to catch one bass that was about 15 pounds, that was realeased. If i had a dime for every BLUEFISH
we caught at our 2nd spot i would quit school and buy a boat. We didnt catch any bass at our 2nd spot. Our 3rd spot was a bit better. 1st drift and the captain was pinned to the rail. The fish hit the deck at 38 pounds!!!
Did about 5 more drifts and were headed back to the 2nd spot. BLUEFISH after BLUEFISH! But this time we would catch 2 more bass up to 22 pounds. Hit a couple more little spots and we were headed to the weigh in. Our fish weighed in at 38.0 pounds, which would turn out to be the biggest fish of Day 1!

Day 2
Day 2 is always the most interesting day because the boats that caught decent fish on day 1 have to back it up on day 2. Getting Bunker was no problem as there was still time for breakfast. Arrived at the 1st spot at 6:58am. For the hour we spent there, we caught about 6 bass up to 28 pounds. We left in search of a bigger one, to find only a 23 pound fish. The team decided to run the 18 miles to Montauk to hope to find a big one. The 6 pieces of structure we fish in Montauk werent to promising as only 1 of 6 had bass on it. Of course there was 10 million BLUEFISH on it also. The 1st drift we had about 10 bluefish and 1 bass that the captain caught. It was around 25 pounds. As the tide started to slow down i wasnt surprised by feeling a BLUEFISH chomp by bait in half, so i pulled it away from him. i was then surprized about the big tail wack and pull a striper had on my bait, so then i laid into it. She pulled a lot of line but i did manage to get her to the boat fairly quick. No one on the boat knew i was hooked up because i was on the other side of the boat, and you'll never get a word out of me when im fighting a bass. They then knew when i yelled UPGRADE! i saw Harvey grab the net, as i wouldnt let him net it after about 30 seconds of being by the side of the boat. She really did have a lot of steam left. She finally was scooped out of the water and onto the deck. She hit the boga between 34 and 38 pounds! wow! that was the 2nd to last drift before we were going to call it a day.i felt great as to pull the team through to win our 3rd tournament ever.

We also encountered way too many nasty sets of teeth, luckily bait was not one of our problems, I haven't seen bait like this in years, last year was a lot tougher. You should see Don practicing with his net, he's gotten reallly good. Yes the bluefishing was great, If you like how they bleed everywhere?? Last boat had maroon carpet, it was great!! anyway we had a great time, the marina people at Mariners Cove were so nice, I enjoyed meeting them, they really did a great job, thanks guys. Congrats to all the winners, not an easy day out there for sure.
