    Smile ASA Barh's Landing Report

Sorry, once again, I've been slacking off on my reports lately, but school work is just so heavy right now, and I can't stay up til 2 every night. I'm really sorry guys, but school work does have to come first.

    OK, so here it goes:

    Friday May 16th, 2008:

UTMS's Gold Band Trip to Six Flags - CANCELED! We were supposed to go to six flags, but our buses didn't show up, so the trip was canceled. It was rescheduled though. So instead of staying in school, my dad, who was a chaperone for the trip, just took me from school, we picked up Sydney from school, went and got a real breakfast, and then hopped on the road.

The ride was very rainy, but we were there in a short hour and a half. We checked into the room, got suited up in our rain gear, and went out to find some bait. We had gotten reports from some friends that the bait was thick, so we went up the river, and got what we needed in just a few throws. Later that night we went to the captain's meeting, got signed up and met up with everyone, then Daddy, Lance, Connor, Sydney, Mary, and I all went out for a nice dinner at Barh's. I don't think I had had that much fun at dinner in a long time. By the time dinner was over, we were all tired, and anxious to hit the sack, in hopes for a good day of fishing the next day.

We were up bright and early at 4:30, spunky and ready to go! Yea right! By 5 we were all spunky and ready to go. We had an all-star crew of Capt. Lance Rowe and his son Connor Rowe, from Team Rockhound, Sydney, my dad, and me. First thing, we went out and got some fresh bait. That didn't take long, and we were dropping the hook by ten of 7. We were all pumped; with not much talk of big fish around, we were hoping to boat a big one. Within the first half hour of fishing, we boated a nice 25 lber. and not long after we boated a decent 11 lber. We had no idea that another one of those 25 lbers. would have put us in the money! After those two fish, the rest of the day was bluefish city. It was really frustrating to catch bluefish after bluefish, but we had to figure there was a striper in there somewhere; we were wrong. We tried a couple other spots throughout day during tide changes, but nothing prevailed, we were SOL. We just couldn't find another 25 lber. We still had a great time and I know the boys loved reeling in all those bluefish!

Congrats to all who got some good fish! There were some pretty tough conditions, so I tip my riggers to all. Congrats to Capt. Dave Nova and Team Marlin Maniac, taking first and Top Lady Angler, Capt. Greg Nunn and Team Hapi Daze, taking second and Top Junior Angler, Team Big Boy, taking third, Team Prime Coat, taking 4th, Team Jenny, taking fifth, Team Andrea's Toy, taking sixth, Team Eastwick, taking seventh, Team Lorie Marie, taking eighth, Team Handyman, taking ninth, and Team Tag-Em, taking tenth. We ended up in 12th place overall and had a great time doing it!

Thanks to Ken and Kathy for yet another great tournament! Barh's is always a great tournament and it gets better every year! Keep up the great work!

Once again, sorry for the delay!
