N.C. Fishing In February??? A little help for a yankee tourist

Hi - a new airline (skybus) from up my way lands in Greensboro, NC. It's got pretty cheap flights for during February Vacation.

I figure a 3 hour drive gets me to the coast for a week of R&R and some fishing.

I'm wondering what kind of fishing exists during that time of year. About 3 years ago, I went for YFT in January. We left from the far end of the outer banks.

Can someone please advise?

Also - It would be me, my wife & 4 boys ages 8-14, so I'd be looking for a hotel somewhere on the water that is near some stuff to do, and an indoor pool would be a must. I really don't know much about the areas along the coast down there.

From what I recall the coastline wilmington/moorehead pretty much shuts down in the winter. Is that right?

Any help before I book tickets?

Thanks in advance - and feel free to PM me also.
Ed

Ed,

I can tell you from experience that there can be good wahoo and blackfin tuna fishing off Morehead City in February. If you like to bottom fish then you have some additional options as well. The pictures below were taken in February of last year. There are several local hotels that have an indoor pool for your family to enjoy as well. Lastly, the state saltwater aquarium is only a few minutes down the road and sure to be a fun thing for your kids to experience. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Capt. Jay is right, the fishing can be great down here during Feb. I would recomend that you book a trip with the option to go on a calm day as Feb. can have rough weather. As far as accomidations for that amount of people I can recomend you my family's rental house and can offer you anywhere between a 10-15% discount by renting directly through me. I can also offer you a charter as well.
please visit the homes site at http://www.bluewatergmac.com/Crystal...ls/DreamMaker/
If there is anything I can do to assist you in your fishing and housing accomidations please feal free to call me.
Thanks
Capt. Skipper Gentry
