Gas Engines
I am looking to charter a boat for an overnight canyon trip in August...One catch...I can't take the smell of diesel fumes...What boats (gas engines) go out of or near Ocean City, NJ?

I think you may run into a couple snags with that wish. Most gas boats are going to be fairly small so it would be cramped at best and could get squirrellly with weather. Second snag would be a lot of boats range with gas really tightens the reigns as to over night. I run a 28 Albemarle out of Ocean City Md thats gas. She carries enough fuel but with just a v berth it would make for a very limited group...

Passengers like to sleep going out and back. That V is no place to try that...
I do overnighters with her as long as every one is on the same page that the party will be four guys and sleep isn't likely. Out of Oc we can bang the baltimore by day and chunk the dog by night and that works pretty well... Kennys Intruder that I run out of Barnegat has underwater exhaust and I can't even smell her... |

Early in the AM with your coffee *EDIT* Heh, was funny this past summer...while working on a shark show with Northeast Angling, the Co-Host Rich was sleeping in the V on the way out, and when I hit a submerged object (luckily only kicking my outdrive up) he came out of the V pretty damn quick LOL. Until then he was resting well.Gotta love these deep V's, no?

Baca, you might want to check w/our own Admin John. If he's back here for the summer, he runs charters out of our place and is always up for overnight runs. He lives to fish!!!

Outboards with gas are probably the best way to go. I had a 33' Egg Harbor with gas engines. A canyon trip overnight took 300 plus gallons of gas. Admin and several others on here run outboards out of South Jersey. The problem is sleeping conditions. Most are open boats, you sleep on the deck. However if a 61 year old (me) can sleep on a bean bag on the deck, I'm sure you younger guys can. Besides all you are looking for is an hour or 2
