You may find it interesting. If you have any questions please feel free to ask............you can check out the Newport Dory Fleet website at------> http://www.doryfleet.com/index2.htm 16' Newport Fishing Dory w/trailer (Built for long shaft 15 to 35 hp outboard)....This single unit built in 1987.....The last Newport Dory built for the Newport Fishing Dory Fleet....The last beach launch fishing fleet on the Pacific coast is in its last days with only a couple fisherman left only fishing part time, and no longer even using the traditional dory.....This is a rare boat to find and I believe very possibly the last one left that is in good condition.........This specific design was built and exclusively used at the Newport Beach, California, Dory Fishing Fleet established in the late 1890's on the Balboa Penninsula. These 16' dories were used to fish deep water longlining for rockcod, seatrout, haddock, mackeral, bonita, thresher shark and other species of fish off the Newport Beach, CA coastal waters within the Catalina Island channel. The Newport Dory Fleet is a small commercial fishing fleet located on the ocean front beach right next to the Newport Pier. The fisherman would roll their dories down to the surf early in the morning and launch thru the waves. Powered by oars & outboard engines. The fishing methods are mostly hand pulled longlines or hand ganion, and there are also a few crab or lobster fisherman working from the fleet using traps/pots. The fisherman would bring their catch back fresh daily and fillet/sell the fish to customers right off the boat sitting on the beach, using big umbrellas for shade.....It was quite a sight to see..........Those were the old days of the Dory Fleet, as now things have changed, bigger boats running out of the harbor, and hardly anyone fishing the old way by hand and most of the fisherman are gone. The old ways have been gone for about 20 years, and so are the original dories used for 100+ years. I believe there is only one fisherman still doing things the old way and I think he may have retired recently...................Okay, about this dory. This is the last one built. It was built by a well known builder and local fisherman George Hiner (died). Most of these boats are gone and the ones left are completely worn out from use, or lost in storms or high tides, or taken away to the dump and etc...The last few left have been used as planters or props and none are seaworthy, nor good enough to ever become seaworthy.......This is probably the last authentic, seaworthy, and original Newport Dory in existence......A classic......VERY SEAWORTHY and can take some pretty nastey seas......Will take a long shaft outboard. A 15 hp Honda is what I powered it by. With that size outboard it planes well and is plenty fast, but originally was designed for a 18 to 20 hp Evinrude or Johnson, which I see on ebay often enough for good prices. Lots of the guys were using 25 to 35 hp outboards and a couple even used 40 hp, which made them dangerously fast. I would recommend 15 to 20 hp....If you have a 6 + hp long shaft that will work to for local fishing within a five mile ocean range, safely....These dorys are great for running the Catalina Channel.....This dory has the original fish bins & lids & side roller for pulling longlines, but I added basic wood seats in the front and in the back for a little more comfort for sportfishing activities. Will take 3 people pretty comfortably for sportfishing and 4 max......Comes with the trailer (pulls easy & light) trailer lights work......Comes with papers and bill of sale.......It doesn't presently look as nice as the pictures show as it needs paint. Its all good, no rot and is stored under my covered carport with no water standing. Has only been used in saltwater......It really should go to someone who wants to keep it in A-1 condition....If someone in Newport Beach, CA gets it, it may be something to put in a marine museum.....I last used it up near Morro Bay, CA, but now have it here in Southern California, an hour and a half from Newport Beach......Back in the 1970's the builders charged anywhere from $3000 to $5000 to build one........If you want to fish crab or lobster pots, these dorys are really great to work from.......Would be great for fishing and exploring the San Juan Islands in WA.......Would be excellent for local fishing & hunting the Alaskan Panhandle or to pull behind a bigger boat for day trips........Would be a great water taxi or shuttle or for fishing guide boat......I will store it here under my carport and you can pick it up in the future, say in a month or two or if you are far away longer, but not forever......Take the measurements/lines off it and build one to sell. 1979 70HPEVINRUDE 1969 BOAT Vehicle Description I have a 1979 70hp evinrude. The motor just had the carbs rebuilt and a tune up. The motor comes with a 1969 tri hull fleetcraft. The boat needs some work but is in ok condition. The motor runs strong. There was a new water pump put in last season. Trailer is included in the sale of item. There is a Humminbird fish finder on the boat also goes. Depending on selling price i am willing to bring the boat to you or make arrangements to meet you. Boat has current PA registration. I have now time to use this with my job and it is just going to go to waste. The boat was out and ran three weeks ago to make sure that everything was still in working order. 1983 14ft deep v aluminum fishing boat w/trailer Vehicle Description Here's aboat motor and trailer as it left the dealership in 1983, including the Johnson electric trolling motor which still works great. All is 1983, boat, trailer, engine and trolling motor. I purchsed this boat early spring of this year and from a elderly man who purchased it new, and let it sit in his garage the last 6 years because he could not handle it by himself any more. I brought it home and decided to fix it up a little ( somtimes I get carried away doing this ) here's what was done. Boat: it has a live well and I knew the hoses were old so I took out the floor and replaced all the hoses to the live well so I wouldn't worry about being out in the lake and a hose leaking. While I had the wood floor out to replace the hoses I felt the wood had a few spots that looked a little questionable, I replace the wood with 3/4" exterior plywood. Also put in a new beilge pump and discharge hose, the boat is set up for two battery's one battery to start the engine run the live well and builge pump the other battery goes under the front bow deck on the right side compartment to operate the electric trolling motor. Only one battery is included with the boat, ALSO THE FISH FINDER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION !!!!! All electrical items work great, includeing the electric trolling motor, it works like new. It has three speeds and is operated with a foot control. 20 inch deep transom great for rivers and lakes. Opps forrgot to mention new seats. Trailer: I stripped it down to bare metal and primed then painted it with rustoleum paints, It has new bearings, wheels and tires including the spare, new 2" hitch, safty chains, winch rope and hook, bunks and it was completly rewired useing led lights. Engine: 25 HP Johnsom long shaft electric start, compression is like new, engine runs and operates like new. Add one new battery for the electric trolling motor and you will have a nice very dependable fishing rig. Boat must be picked up in Algonac, MI 48001, full payment's due within 7 days from end of auction. Thanks and good luck !
