I'm looking at my next project to help pass the cold NE winter months along. It's a build for 130s primarily for GBFT, #6 bent butts for 0 degree (vertical) swivel holders, rollers, 200# over 200+ braid/dacron backing, etc. My boat has swivels in the back corners and a pair of outboards. I could use some suggestions to help get things started.

What are folks using for blanks? Eye balling the SS-CTSF63XXXX. Or should these be E-glass?

How long are the finished rods? I've heard of "long bendy" rods. How long is "long" and how "bendy"?

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are usually appreciated

Roller guides - When?

What are the advantages of roller guides and when should they be used? I have one rod with a roller stripper guide and tip. It is fine as long as the line is tight but as soon as there is any slack it is more prone to having the line bind in the roller guides than in the standard ones.

FOR THOSE THAT ARE AWARE OF TRED BARTA'S SITUATION, YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A BENEFIT FOR HIM ON OCTOBER 23RD ALONG THE EAST COAST AT 5 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. I BUILT AND DONATED THIS SET FOR THE BENEFIT AND THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR SILENT AUCTION AT EACH LOCATION.

I HOPE TO HEAR BACK THAT SOMEONE IN THE SFC FAMILY HAS ADOPTED THESE RODS AND GAFF AND WILL PUT THEM TO GOOD USE!!!! PLEASE MAKE THAT HAPPEN!!!!!!

TRED BARTA, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU LIKE HIM OR DON'T, DOES NOT DESERVE TO HAVE THESE ILLNESSES AND NO INDIVIDUAL ON THIS EARTH NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER DESERVES CANCER. I WOULDN'T WISH THAT ON MY WORST ENEMY. I HAVE LOST MY EX-MOTHER IN LAW, MY DEAR SWEET MOM AND MY FATHER HAS IT NOW, IN THE STOMACH. I AM CONFIDENT THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US KNOWS SOMEONE THAT HAS OR AT ONE TIME HAD CANCER.
TO THOSE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED CANCER FIRSTHAND OR WITH A FAMILY MEMBER, IMAGINE DOING IT WITH LIMITED OR NO INSURANCE TO COVER THE COSTS. THEN, IMAGINE A $12K SHOT THAT YOU NEED EVERY MONTH AND HAVING TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET!

IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE DINNER AND AUCTIONS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DIG DEEP AND SUPPORT SOMEONE THAT WOULD GIVE HIS LEFT ARM FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US.

THESE RODS ARE 50 CLASS STANDUPS WITH ABALONE INLAYS UNDER AFTCO BIGFOOT WINDON ROLLERS. THESE RODS WOULD SELL FOR A GOOD PENNY AND HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY AND I PUT MY NAME AND REPUTATION INTO THE CONSTRUCTION OF EACH AND EVERY ROD THAT I BUILD. ANYTHING EVER HAPPENS TO THEM WHILE FIGHTING A FISH, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, IT WILL BE REPAIRED OR REBUILT. I STRIVE TO EXCEED MY CUSTOMER'S EXPECTATIONS WITH MY WORK!!!

THIS IS WELL OVER $1000 WORTH OF PRODUCT THAT IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!

Anyone every use a bent butt on a deep drop rod and then use rollers instead of guides? One of my buddies swears that it would be easier cranking than the more popular tackle that is being used now.

He wants to put a 9/0 penn loaded with 50lb braid on the rod and leave it in the holder and just crank.

Anyone have any experience with doing that? What size bent butt would be needed and how many rollers would you use? I almost think like a longer type planer rod is what he wants, but thought I'd ask the experts.

Any input is appreciated.
