My dad, Eben and I went out on Veterans Day for some blackfishing. Why is it that the only days I can go out the weather is crappy? Anyway we pulled out of the dock with a stiff NE wind and 20 people on board with Captain Don at the Helm. Once anchored on the 1st spot Cory nailed a keeper then I did followed by my dad. Shortly after my dad banged another nice keeper. We made a couple move with nothing to really show for it. Another move Eben gets 2 keepers and Cory put 2 more into the boat. My dad moved and hooked into what looked like a massive blackfish rod bent straight over and the fish was really digging hard and pulling drag and just like that poof rig got chafed right through and togzilla swims with a nice new lip piercing. I decided to move up to the pulpit as no one was up there figure give it a shot. I drop down start getting some little taps then come tight on a decent fish and it begins to start pulling drag and trying to go back to its lair. Once at the surface comes a nice 9 pound tog. Then Dad, Eben and Cory move in. My dad really turned on here putting in a lot of fish. He was a machine every time dropped down and hooked up to a short or keeper. Eben was doing pretty well too. I wasn't getting anything so I went in to change out my rig and decided to try a new rig I have been working with. I put in 2 more fish. I had one I hooked and started reeling then dropped it. Quick drop back down and a few seconds later BAM! Fish came back for it and turned out to be a nice 7 pounder. After this move I had 4 dad had 7 and Eben had 5. Next spot was our last spot. Eben quick nailed a keeper then moved to the Pulpit. As I was reeling in to move Eben hooked up and that confirmed where to move to. Eben's fish was a short. I drop down and a few minutes later I was hooked up to a good fish. The fish did not want anything to do with coming to the surface and after a few head shakes and good runs toward the bottom I had a nice fish now in the boat which went 10 pounds. After this fish was in the boat all hell broke loose the fish were committing suicide. Lots of nice keepers and shorts going crazy to bite the hooks. I ended the day with 5 fish three of which were 10, 9 and 7 pounds. Eben had his limit and so did my dad. Cory also had 5. This was my best trip for nice size fish to date. I hope I can get out one more time at least before the season is over.

My dad and Eben went togging Wednesday without me. Boy they sure made me feel worse after relaying the report. They ended up limiting out and gave away other fish to less fortunate anglers. My dad also got his personal best which won the pool. The fish went 11.5 pounds.
Friday my dad, Eben and I went up for some togging. We left dock with only 27 people. We had a very wet ride to the fishing grounds. First spot I got 2 keepers. Second spot I landed 5 more keepers. By 10:30 I had 7 fish my dad had 3 and Eben had 0. We made a couple of moves picking up fish here and there. My dad hooked into what appeared to be togzilla. His pole bent right over and looked like bottom but it came to life. I had never seen his rod bend like that. All the way up it was bent really far over with a little head shakes here and there. As he gets it up to the surface turns out to be a double. On the top hook was a nice tog bottom hook appeared to be what looked to be a HUGE FLUKE like 15 pounds or better. As it got closer to the surface turns out wasn't massive fluke. My dad evicted the tenant and took its house with it. I ended up with 9 keepers Eben got 10 and my dad got 8 we gave our extras to people who didn't make out so well.
Just got word Eben went out again today he managed his limit and gave away more keepers that he caught to less fortunate anglers. My dad and Eben are heading out tomorrow fishing Thursday and Friday will keep updated.
