I cant tell you the price but I can tell you the blanks are awesome. Very popular among gulf fisherman as they throw topwater poppers to tuna all year long. Great tip action and tons of backbone
I can also vouch for Paul's work, two of my jigging rods came from him. Great quality at a fair price |

I'm interested in the 50# OTI popping rod. Anyone had a chance to put these to the test? What size lure do you think is in the sweet spot? I'd like to throw mostly 1.5-3oz.
Thanks, -- Tom

StriperTS,
I have the 80 OTI jigging rod (for conventional reels). I picked it up from Paul this spring. The only "big" fish I have fought with it was in this weekends Monster Shark Tourney. While we were wading through our slick full of blue sharks, I figure that I might as well have some fun. I targeted about a 100 plus pound blue dog and foul hooked it. Line screamed and all the guys on the boat were saying, "Your gonna get spooled!!" What they didn't know was that I had the drag backed way off.... . I said, "Watch this." I brough the Accurate 665 up to about 25 pounds of drag and almost yanked the blue dog out of the water. From that point on, I whip him in about 3 minutes.I was amazed at how well the rod assisted me in the fast fight. It just ate that fish up with very little effort on my arms. Admittedly, a 100+ pound blue shark isn't a 100 pound tuna or a 400 pound mako. But it isn't a blue fish either... I love the OTI Rod!!! Mike Last edited by Parapapam; 07-23-2008 at 10:46 AM. |
