Don't you hate when people cancel on you

I have been trying to get out fishing for 3 weeks now and have actually had 3 trips planned only to get a call that night while getting all the tackle ready just to tell me they can't go because they are too drunk or some bullshit story. I wish I had some more reliable people to go with. I just found out that the spot I normally go on the day my guys cancelled on me caught some big fish (mostly wahoo in the 40# range)and held some blue marlin. At least the marlin season is picking up but I could've been out there catching them but instead had to sit home on my only day off to do nothing because of unreliable people. Sorry I just needed to vent.

Hate it! Hate it!

You have to take care of most preparation and most of the expense. Friends put up no deposit, have no commitment, cancel at last minute with B/S story and no loss to them. Couple true stories:

Three days prep to run offshore trip in small boat. Friend cancels at last minute because-"she doesn't want me to go." Get a new girlfriend, jerk!

Friend doesn't even cancel-simply a no show. Next time I see him he asks, "When we going fishing?" WE ain't, dude!

Charter story-Friend asks me to put up his share of deposit-he'll make sure I get it back. Cancels last minute, other guys have more expense to pay for charter. Chances of getting that deposit money from him-ZERO!

Another charter-Friend puts up his share of deposit-cancels last minute-other guys stuck with more expense for charter. The JERK wants HIS deposit back!

Too many times, friend wants to go fishing. OK, this is when I have room in boat-all set, I take care of all prep. No show/no explanation-he forgot about it ten minutes after we talked because he wasn't required to make any effort or commitment!

Yeah, they went from friends to jerks kinda quickly-and many times had no idea they did anything wrong!

The best fishing buddies are the ones who are cantankerous, argumentative, opinionated, and even cheap. But they own a boat themselves, show up reliably, and help pay the freight.

No apologies necessary. Unfortunately, we all have dozens of the cancellation stories. Most of mine end up with me heading out alone & having a stellar day.

I would love to go alone but the marina I go out of does not let you go solo, thats the Navy for ya. People just don't understand how much planning an d preparation goes into a day of fishing.

LOL. Sounds good its only about 12,000 miles. Make sure to bring plenty of gas. It should only cost about $40,000.00.
