Where should I fish in Mexico?

I have been looking for a good place to fish that is not too big and touristy, a little off the beaten path, you know. I found Melaque fishing online and its looks alright, nice little town but I do not want to be hasty when it comes to this. Does anybody know of this town or any other cool little spots to check out down south?? If so please let me know so I can try to make a decision. Thanks in advance for any info.

wow, what a beautiful place. How did you even find a place like that? What is the cost of staying there etc. If you could point me to more info on it that would be awesome.

cheers

Plenty of good spots and places, we go twice a year on avg down to puerta adventuras area, (near playa de carmen) plenty of big boats or grab a guy on the beach and fish a panga, pull same baits and same waters and for only around a hundred for the day. and some on them even cook it for you..

Isla Holbox and Yelapa are two great places. They are worlds different but are both unreal. My quick run-down are:

Isla Holbox: this is basically a big sand bar in the middle of nowhere with bright blue caribbean waters. After a 1-2 hour car ride you take a 30minute water ferry to the island. Once there, there are no cars, and everyone gets around on golf carts. There is a little town with shops, open air restaurants, etc. The people are extrememly friendly. There is plenty of fishing from the shoreline and around the rivers, or you can go offshore for grouper, snapper, and giant tarpon.

Yelapa: this is a really cool spot. You fly in to PV and take a taxi to Boca de Tomatlan where you jump in a panga for a 20 minute ride down the coast. When you get there the boat is run up on the beach and your luggage is loaded onto a donkey for the 20 minute hike up to Verana. Once there you are basically staying in the lap of luxury. You can fish from a panga for sailfish, mahi, yellowfin, and snapper.

Let me know if I can answer any other specific questions for you.
