yamaha 250 fourstrokes

All,
I have a question for some yamaha people out there. I just took delivery of my new 06 29 regulator. She is powered with twin 250 fourstrokes.
My question is what is the recommended cruise speed RPM's I should be running at for the most fuel and performance?

I am coming out of a diesel boat and getting used to outboards again.

Doubled,
The Yamaha performance bulletin on the 29FS w/250's show an optimum cruise RPM of 3500. That should give you 27.1 MPH burning 15.8 GPH with 1.72 MPG.
A fast cruise of 4000 rpm will give you around 33 MPH burning 21 GPH and getting 1.6 MPG.
As you run the boat monitor the Yamaha gages to get your optimum #'s.

Do you have the fuel managment gauge??? If you don'y you can buy one it should be an easy install and they are cool showing your burn.. with fuel prices like these they will pay off ... go to yamaha dot com... the fuel burn is going to also vary to your load and weight! how you trim your boat and if you have bottom paint. seems the fours including mine start to just drink if they are forced to go over rpm ... plus it gives you something more to do while your driving the buss... our 2 stroken e teks seem to like high rpm ....the yamis seem to run straight n quiet.. make sure you are wheeled right also I run a 28' bert converted to yami's and I have had eteks also the regulator we ran was fun and wet...

thanks guys, I do have the fuel management gauge. I wanted to know what would be considered a good cruise RPMS for the boat. thanks again for the info. It was very helpful.

I have twin Yamaha 250s on my 2006 Hydrasport 2900VX. Mine is an express so probably heavier than the Regulator but my sweet spot is between 4300 and 4500 RPMs. It does vary depending on load and sea state but the flow scan is spot on accurate so you can see your MPG reading go up and down until you find the sweet spot. The yamaha bulletins are also very accurate.

I had the 29' Regulator, great boat. You can run those motors at 5,000 RPM's all day long if you wanted. I used to cruise at about 4,500 for around 32KTS and 28GPH. That's with offshore weight, full gas, ice, etc... Good luck with the boat you'll love it.

I am in Brielle and fish out of the glimmer glass. I just sold my 29 topaz and just took delivery of a 2002 26 reg. with Twin 225 4 strokes. This is brand new for me, i have been a diesel guy for 15 years. I have the fuel guauges, and will be learning as I go. good luck to you, my boat is called "Blue Sky"

Traded my 28 Henriques for the regulator. Boat name is Double D. It isnt' on the boat yet but she is an 06 29 reg yellow hull. See ya out there.

See you out there, I am on a trailer at riverfront Marina in brick. i should be going in the water later this week and over to the Glimmer Glass. good luck with the new venture, i am pretty pumped. i loved the Topaz, but it's time had passed for me. I know its new owner will love it. I also lost a few tackle boxes out of the tackel center. i hope i can find the right size. did you deal with comstock????

comstock has them in stock. I am picking some up today. Yeah I am pumped to use this reg tooo. I love the henriques, but needed a change. I used to run a cc and said i would never go back. They are just easier to deal with. Hopefully heading out tomorrow looking for some fish in the afternoon. It will be the maiden voyage.
