I grew up wearing Sneads Ferry Sneakers(a.k.a. white boots) preferably the Royal brand. I've had every water shoe, etc. that you can find at some point and time and they get destroyed by me. But the Sperry Figawi sneakers are by far the best in my opinion. whether on the deck that's covered in blood or full of water from backing down, they keep a good footing. They also work great wading on rocks, coral, etc. and dry quickly. Not to mention, very tough. I have 2 pair now and I just bought 2 at a time after my first pair finally bit the dust after 6 years of abuse.

Ah Cappy,

Check these out.

I haven't bought a pair myself yet so i can't tell you how good they are, but Big Game Fishing Journal has them listed as "Cutting Edge Gear!"

Vinny, They certainly look like they'll do the trick.

Thanks everyone

Boots are great but I sweat too much especially for a two day plus wear. Crocks feel good under your feet but roll out on you when pullin a big one into the pit.

Sneaker types are best for support and lack of roll but I am always wet especially when sharkin...will probably go with the variety approach.

Brown boots are much better than the white ones for support and overall comfort. Instead of gellin like a fellon I'm sweatin like a mellon...

Those puppys are interesting Mikey...

BTW ... I have a no barefoot rule for da pit for the obvious reason 125 to 150 from port would make for a loooooong ride even with bolt cutters

Thanks everyone

Other than boots in the winter ... I have never been able to wear shoes in the pit. I know the day I get a nice hook through the heel ... I will regret it. But is has been 33 years and I have tried to put on many different shoes only for them to end up in the kill box. I cant stand shoes while on the boat.

You've just gotta wear band-aids one way or another...

I just got a pair of the Sperry's - I hate wearing shoes, but at the end of the day my back thanks me for decent support.
