CONTENDER * REGULATOR SHOOTOUT 2007 ~ DAY 1 ~ COVERAGE ~ MONTAUK, NY

Greetings from Montauk!

Welcome to the 3rd Annual shootout!

Well my trip didn't work out as planned but I rather be here than not be here at all.

One of White Water's customers did not have his new 36FA with trip 350's ready, so I got bumped

. But customers 1st and dealers last and that is acceptable to me so work it is.

The captains meeting and tournament are being held at the Montauk Yacht Club and wow what a spread, I made it to the lobster table and called it quits!

Suffolk Marne & White Water Marine put this tournament together and they have done a FANTASTIC JOB on putting this together!

This is my 1st year for this tournament and it is by far IMPRESSIVE!

No cat fights, well rounded and well respective individuals!

To me this is neat to see. Walk out to the docks and see mother fishing ships that are most likely incredible boats to fish, round the corner and see 56 center consoles ranging from 25 -40'. Each one of them with their own colors and markings mainly READY TO FISH!!

Pretty sweet!

Team meeting who's staying in and going where and work together and where are we going!

Day one started off 4am with wake up phones calls and off on the White Water committee boat from the shot gun start helicopters, photographers, and camera men.

REGULATORS NORTH & CONTENDERS SOUTH lined up outside the c-buoy, then the count down from 10 and GO GO GO!

Its a nice day out there and I certainly wish I was there! I think maybe 2 Contenders headed inshore and it was a awesome sight watching 50 boats head off

Now for the fun part 3PM weigh in starts and from what I have heard the boys have some good Intel.

I also appreciate the support that the members of this site have gave, VERY COOL of you to help out. Now if you get buzzed by 50 center consoles, Sorry

Just kidding I am pretty sure most of them will behave!

My money is on Capt. Tony Maltese and crew (last year's champs) with some stiff competition from Paul Stern and Tim Ott. Go get em Tony!!! (contender boats) By the way, my prediction is that there will be giants weighed at this tourney. So I'm hoping that Mary brought her good camera.

That was the exact talk at breakfast this morning, heard of an 800. 800 would certainly be nice!!

The scales opened at 3 and it was a mad house at the end.

Fish in every which direction.

I have to say not a bad way to break in that new 31t less than a week old. Congrats guys!

Regulator had us from the start as it was rough out and the big boats ran at least a 100 off. I had to split and pick the pilot up, but there were mass quanties brought in by Contender and we got the board!

I will post more pictures in the am, sleepy time!

No late nights and no on fishing either. I was wiped last night and asleep by 11. I was in for some much needed sleep that I have been lacking a lot of lately! Boy did I sleep other than the herd of drunks that rolled past my room last night, and the stupid fricken crickets that I forgot how much I hated. Other than that now I am ready to go!

I will post some more pictures up here in a little bit took a 100 of them so I need to sort thru them.

The scales were a little rough to take pictures at because there is so many people, there is 224 guys between all the boats plus committee and spectators. today I am going to take a different approach and hit up the boats when they get in their slip!
