Scale Coverage OC MD Day2 Shark Pictures

Well just walked up to the scale to find Restless Lady sitting here at the scale. The crew has a real nice thresher sitting in the boat.

Now for a little twist,
Last night around 11:15 a vessel who hooked up at 1:30 was towed to the dock. From what I gather from the rules if a boat hooks up before 3:30 during a fish day they are allowed to fight the fish and weigh in as long as they make it to the scale by 12:00 am

So from what I understand a 335 thresher was weighed and is in the lead. We will aquire some photos here soon once the scale opens. Just so you all know under the rules this fish was 100% with in the guidelines.

Here are some photos of the Restless Lady at the dock waiting till 3:30 to weigh. In my opinion I feel they have 335 beat so we will see.

My apology to the sportfishermen.com community for day 2 coverage of Ocean City Shark Tournament. L

Well It is 3:21 am Sunday morning and I’m back in the office after a long drive back from ocean city.


Thursday I called Mark the gentleman who runs the Ocean City Shark Tournament to ask permission to cover his event as a few board members had requested that I cover this event. Mark said he would love to have an organization like ours come to the event and cover the tournament. So I packed up the gear and made the hike to Ocean City and had a very warm welcome and was granted the access needed to cover the event.

During the event Larry of coastal fishermen started in on me about posting pictures and that I was cutting in on his company. I told him that our images are cropped at 800x800 and water marked with some logos and that we did it to cover the event and entertain our members. He did not seem to be happy and the day ended with out a hitch.

Ran back to NJ to see my wife and kids off on a trip witch I could not attend since this time of year I must work hard on coverage.

Got up sat morning and headed back down the highway for day 2 of this event.

Set up the computer took a couple photos and Larry started in on me saying he looked at the site and was not happy with the photos. Said that you all could steal them and hang them on your wall or frame the photos and that this was cutting into his business model of selling weigh in pictures to you all the fishermen. I told Larry that I have been doing this for 3 years now and if he had a problem I would be more then happy to put up a link for him so people could purchase his pictures if need be but other then that I will continue to cover events in this fashion as it is a great way to get more exposure for the events and great for people around the world to see some action.
Sadly the conversation got more heated and he insisted we reduce the size to 2 inches by 2 inches. I proceeded to tell Larry that I’m sick and tired of the rags riding my ass. Over the last few months a couple articles have been printed in major rags bashing internet sites and I’m feed up. I proceeded to tell him I’m more then happy to work with anyone but I’m at the point where my middle finger goes up to some rags as I have a company to run as well and its not my fault for being innovative and up on technology. I have also but some solid relationships with some mags and actually have been able to provide them with strong content and photos for articles. There is away to work together as I am not going anywhere and will continue to strive to bring you the best in fishing content.

Well next thing I see is Larry running his mouth to the gentlemen who runs the event. Well you can guess what happens next. Mark came over and told me that he absolutely liked the coverage that we did on day one but Larry was not happy about our photos.

I proceeded to tell Mark that it his event and he needed to make a decision. Well I truly feel bad that Mark was put in this position as the man is in the middle of a event and I’m sure the last thing he needed was to be bothered by camera men bickering. So mark told us to figure it out and or I would have to leave. The gentlemen from Hooked on OC made a suggestion of reducing to like a 480x600 witch probably would have worked out. I attempted to ask Larry what he wants to do and he said he wanted me out. So being the type of person I am I packed my gear and moved out of the pit and asked a lady for her spot along the public rail so I could attempt to get some decent pictures to finish what I have started. So I’m very sorry this was not play by play and that the photos are not very good but this is what the coastal fishermen wanted.


I truly feel flattered that Larry wanted me out as I must be doing something pretty cool.

I truly apologize to Mark, that he had to deal with this during his event and hope one day to be able to cover more Ocean City events for you all.

I have a feeling unless you the public speak up that Larry will attempt to put a stop to our way of covering events in the Ocean City area.
