Jigging Master Custom Handle Installation

Increasing number of fishermen start to use custom handles for jigging. One of the most popular custom handles for jigging reels is Jigging Master Power Handle. However, some think they need to drill to make JM custom handles fit to their reels. On the contrary, JM custom handles fit to most existing jigging reels without any modification as they provide three different shafts for Accurate rees, Shimano reels and Daiwa reels. I even tried the JM custom handle to John Baker reel and it fit perfectly without any modification.

Here is an instruction by Ralph Kuo which is very informative.

Jigging Master produces three kinds of shaft for Jigging Master T-bar handles, the standard one is for Accurate Magnum Boss series ,and a Daiwa Saltiga both spinning and Z series, and a Shimano 2004 Stella and Ocea Jigger 4000(P)/5000(P). No additional mechanical work needed.

From left to right: Daiwa-Saltiga S/C /Shimano Stella 2004+OJ 4000_5000/ All Accurate Magnum Boss Single and 2 speed reels. you must have got the wrong shaft and wrong screw, JM only provides "Allen Key" use screws, not cross shape screw. Go get the correct shaft next time, and you won't need to grind and spoil your reel arm.

The second is the photo of a shaft/component/T-bar for a Daiwa Saltiga 6500Z spinning. original innershaft, bearings and screw are still remained useful, don't throw them away or you'll be in trouble! A very delicated thin washer from JM is also very important, don't let it get loss.

If anyone who use Daiwa Saltiga Conventional reels, may either go for LT-081 with JM-Daiwa outer shaft and original Daiwa inner-shaft and bearings/screw.

But for the installation of LT-051, it only comes with a 5mm screw which means you need to drill the hole to make it larger, original Daiwa arm has the hole of 4mm diameter, just drill it up to 5mm, and all LT-051 standard shafts will be fitable to it. A power drill and careful custom handwork are needed for drilling the hole. The same method will fit Shimano Ocea Jigger 1500~3000 as well.

Here is a Ocea Jigger1500P NR with a LT-051 with standard shaft, I don't remember if the hole was 4mm or 5mm while the reel was brand new, but don't worry, once the hole is perfect 5mm, You will be very happy with the standard shaft.

P.S> Standard shaft is not suitable for spinning reel, since the arms of spinning reel are too delicate to be drill, use the special shafts for spinning reels.

Here are pictures of reels with JM power handles.
