Looking for something to catch this weekend? Croakers are still pretty abundant along the beach. You just have to travel up the beach, maybe do a little zigzag with the fish finder until you find a pod of fish and drop those clams down to them. Anglers really looking to make it busy drop the anchor and sometimes you can get the croakers into a feeding frenzy and catch them until you get tired. THIS IS NOT recommemded means to keep all those fish. Remember, it's not much fun at the cleaning station later in the day. Croakers are not the best fish for the freezer either. Gather plenty for dinner and as many that you want to fillet and share with you friends and neighbors. The biggest trick at making weakfish and croakers easier to fillet is LOTS OF ICE. Get the fish really cold and the meat becomes firm and filleting is so much easier. This is the case with most fish, cold and firm makes for easy cleaning!
Word is there a few stripers at Pebble Beach at night. Specifics are scarce, but I have heard it mentioned more then a few times over the past few days.Trolling anglers have been getting into more stripers then the bait fishing guys. Dust off those old wire line, and monel rigs and drag some bunker spoons and umbrella rigs under the bunker schools. Try to pick a pod of bunker that someone isn't working in. I am not trying to create any wars advising folks to drive through schools bunker. The trick is to pick the backside of pod of fish and not actually disturb the body of bunker. Fish behind the shcools of bunker figuring that is where the bass are going to be picking off any remains of bunker that may be floating about.
