The crew will be heading south to Annapolis this week for the boat shows and good times, and then we wing southwest to Mexico where the famous Bisbee's Black and Blue Marlin Tournament awaits. Before the road trip is over we'll been in Fort Lauderdale for one of the biggest and best boat shows on the planet and a little Florida sunshine. The first stop is in Annapolis, Maryland this week where we're actually in town for a doubleheader with the United States Sailboat Show and the United States Powerboat Show. The 39th Annual Sailboat Show begins this week, running from October 9th to the 13th. While sailboats and sportfishing rarely share a common thread, there are plenty of downeast and custom styled boats that are great fishing platforms. The other thing that has us at the show is the high technology that the sailboat and racing industries bring to the boating world. From composite construction to great accessories for any boat we'll be there to bring it to you.
The sailboats will be moving on after the show but SportFishermen.com will be staying put as the powerboat show fills the vacated docks. The 37th Annual United States Powerboat Show starts on October 16th, just three days later, and runs through the 19th. We'll have plenty of great boats and all the things to go with them when it powers into Annapolis. As always the SportFishermen crew will be on the move to get you what you want to see but if you want to track us down a good bet will be booth D5 in the tent. We might be there hanging out with our new friends from Scott Financial. Just as the Annapolis Boat Shows are wrapping up we will be making a long jump to Los Cabos, Mexico for the biggest marlin tournament in the world. The Bisbee's Black and Blue has the largest payout of any fishing tournament in the world. In one day, one fish can win over a million dollars and past payouts have been as high as 3.9 million. This tournament brings together some of the very best in the world and puts them out there with the biggest fish and the biggest money of any marlin tournament in history. This is the last of the big-money marlin tournaments for the year and with it taking place at the Cabos Villas Beach Resort at the end of Mexico's Baja peninsula, it is sure to be the best.
The Captains Meeting kicks things off on Tuesday, October 21 with fishing starting on Wednesday. The boats begin each day at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start past Cabo's famous arch. Boats will be fishing until 5 p.m. and the scales are open until 9. It's almost round the clock action for three days with black and blue marlin bringing the top prizes. SportFishermen.com will be there the whole time, bringing you all the action no matter where in the world you are. The 49th Annual Fort Lauderdale Boat Show is the biggest in the world. It begins on Thursday, October 30 and runs for four days. The show uses over 3,000,000 square feet in six locations to show off 3 billion dollars in boats and accessories that represent every major manufacturer in the marine industry. We will be in town to bring you all there through your computer screens. New models, new products, dream boats that are beyond your dreams, we'll bring you photos and information about it all.
