Capt. Rich reported yet another solid day of cod fishing. No real big scores today but many customers had two to four nice fish apiece. Again some real quality fish with a decent number of fish in the 20 to 30 lb range taken. The dogfish were a force to be reckoned with today, they were not bad this weekend but they were tough to avoid today making one low hook down by the sinker an absolute must. A few jumbo sea bass today and quite a few hard fighting ocean bluefish as well. Again quite a few snowshoe flounder to 3.5 lbs made for a pleasant surprise. Angler hi lights included Sin from NYC who had four nice cod including two fish in the lower 20s while Jung Pak from Cliffside, NJ had three good cod today to just over 20 lbs while Lou from Niantic had 4 nice fish late in the day to nearly 20 lbs. The true cod star of the day was Dan from Narragansett, RI who had 4 cod all 15 lbs and up with his biggest fish a fine 30 lb hanger and that fish was the biggest fish of the day! Dan was very pleased with the way his new fishing rod handled the big cod he so skillfully coerced to his clam baited hook. Dan was fishing one hook down low to the sinker as well.Capt. Ray reported porgy fishing today was OK but not quite up to yesterday's level. Next porgy trip sails at 8am tomorrow morning with Capt. Rich aboard the Admiral Frances.
