Capt. Rich reported another excellent day of local cod fishing. A good bite first thing in the morning then a slow steady pick thereafter. Again excellent sizes with 8 to 15 lb fish the average and more fish in the 20 lb range today and several bigger fish in the upper 20s to lower 30s fighting it out for the pool. A good crowd of anglers came out today and it turned out to be a much nicer day on the water weather wise as well. The pool was split today with twin 33 lb codfish. Sam Dibner from Woodbury, Ct was the proud angler of one them while Bet Salpetrier from Jersey City, NJ was the proud angler of the other pool tying steaker. Angler hi lights also include but are not limited to the following: Joe Horvath from Stamford Ct did it once again bringing 9 good codfish to the gaff for hi hook honors with all of his fish in the 8 to 15 lb range while Jimmy and Willie from Brooklyn, NY teamed up for a dozen good cod and Willie had one fish around 25 lbs. A young man who fishes mostly northern waters jigged up three nice cod today to 15 lbs including a double header while Mike Tileli on his second cod trip ever had three nice fish to 15 lbs. Over 100 good size cod were brought to the gaff today. Anglers also caught some big snowshoe flounder, a 4 lb fluke ( thanks Peter Tu for keeping summer alive!!), and one lone ocean pout. Again hardly a dogfish all day. Capt. Rich looks forward to the next cod trip tomorrow morning at 7am aboard the Gail Frances.Capt. Paul reported the Gem Plumbing group had a great cod charter today catching over two dozen good size cod to 30 lbs and some nice blue fish mixed in as well. Capt. Paul reported a slow steady bite through the day and was very pleased with the fishing. All hands aboard enjoyed a beautiful day of weather and fishing aboard the Capt. Frances.

Capt. Ray reported a good day of porgy fishing today. More seasoned scup anglers managed limit or close to limit catches and everyone put together at least a fair catch. Just a few platter size scup today but plenty of keepers and a handful of keeper sea bass and a couple tackle busting bluefish in the lower teens. Next porgy trip sets sail at 8am tomorrow aboard the Admiral Frances.
