Offshore: The wahoo bite is doing very well offshore of the Morehead City area. The Wahoo have been caught around the 90 ft. Drop and down around the Swansboro Hole area. The blackfin tuna have also been making an appearance in the same areas.
Inshore: The king mackerel fishing is just about as hot as it ever gets around the Morehead City and Cape Lookout areas right now. There have been plenty of king mackerel around all the inshore artificial reefs like the AR 315 just off Atlantic Beach. Slow trolling cigar minnows has been working extremely well for those 8 to 15 lb. king mackerel, so if you don't have a live bait well the cigar minnows will catch you plenty of kings. We have been fishing them with the Fish Finder cigar minnow rigs. On the eastside of the Cape Lookut shoals around the Ar 285, the 1700 Rock, the 30 Minute Rock and the East Rock there have also been plenty of large king mackerel. Kings form 15 to 40 lbs. have been plentiful on the eastside. Live bait and cigar minnows are both working well for the larger kings. The spanish mackerel bite is still continuing to do extremely well too! Plenty of large spanish are being cught from Beaufort Inlet up to the Cape Loookut shoals.
Inside: WE are still doing very well on red drum back inside the marshes and bays. Both artificial baits such as Redfish Magics, Johnson silver minnow spoons and Berkley gulps have been working on the red drum. speckled trout are heating up as well. We have been doing very well using live shrimp on the specs as well as artificial baits such as grubs and Berkley gulps and also some topwater baits have been working for the specs.
Piers: Blue fish, and spanish, few spots, sea mullet, and flounder.
Charters: We are now booking for red drum, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, kings, amberjacks and false albacore.
